After watching the video I believe that Kony needs to be taken care of. I believe that the U.S. should gather information on Kony and uses Navy Seals to capture/kill him. I think the U.S. should do this because we need to defend peace in all parts of the world.

I think that this is a great way to reveal the misdoings of the cruel dictatorship done by Kony since a not only gets our attenion, but will also start to gain the attention of the other world powers. The video already has more than 36 million views on youtube which is more than enough to get the media's attention. What I can't believe is that Kony showed no signs of trying to disrupt this video from being made which shows how this dictator is like any other being "blinded" by power. Plus, his idea of creating young children as future soldiers is what I would consider morally wrong, yet unique leaving me wondering if dictators from the past such as Stalin or Hitler used techniques similar or the same as this child soldier brainwashing. In the end I believe a quick strike by an assasination task force would be the best way to handle this situation without turning it into a national fiasco.

I believe that this needs to stop and that Kony should be brought to justice. The kids in Uganda are going through a terrible time throughout their lives and this is not how kids should live

I think the video speaks wonders about our governtment. I think it shows how flaud we are. The video stated that America has no chance to get invovled no matter how wrong the crimes were. The only reason was, because their wasnt enough support. After gaining support American politicans changed their mind. I dont like that America does not care on what is right or wrong, but what is popular. Bless the people who are fighting for peace. I support the mission one hundred percent. I just find it upsetting that politicans will not stand up to what is wrong, because it is not popular. Kony needs to be taken care of. My question now goes to paul. The death penalty once kony is caught, yes or no?

I watched this video on Friday, but this video actually has more than 50000 view in Chinese Twitter too. We MUST stop Kony. The children shouldn't suffer this just because they lives in Uganda. I am glad that American government has actions now since we care this so much. If we can't arrest Kony in 2012, it would be more difficult to arrest him next year since 2012 gets the most media's attention.

There is no question about it, Kony needs to be stopped. Politicians need to get involved and the United States as a whole needs to get involved. We need to fight for people's rights around the world and care for those who need us.

I agree 100% that Kony needs to be stopped. He is an extremely destructive force in Uganda, and bringing him to justice will ultimately benefit the country and save lives. By spreading this across the world, Invisible Children has touched so many people who are willing to do whatever they can to stop this man. Oprah has recently pledged 2 million dollars, and many politicians are in support for the capture of Kony. I am glad that someone somewhere is doing something for the voices that do not have a platform to be heard.

Kony is a threat and should be stopped. HOWEVER, there are many, many, many more leaders like him. Plus, people need to think who would want to go in and arrest him when they will end up killing many children in the process. I can be positive that he will not go down without a fight and that the children who do fight for him are very obedient and will protect him. On another note, while Kony is a problem, Invisible Children is not the best charity to donate to. Here is a Huffington Post article on the subject from someone who has also spent time in Northern Uganda:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-deibert/joseph-kony-2012-children_b_1327417.html

Also a research post done on the visible children tumblr site:
Invisible Children has been condemned time and time again. As a registered not-for-profit, its finances are public. Last year, the organization spent $8,676,614. Only 32% went to direct services (page 6), with much of the rest going to staff salaries, travel and transport, and film production. This is far from ideal for an issue which arguably needs action and aid, not awareness, and Charity Navigator rates their accountability 2/4 stars because they lack an external audit committee. But it goes way deeper than that.

I watched the video a couple days ago and was first very shocked and impressed by the strong message the video sent out. But than I read more about Invisible Children and Kony 2012. I personally think they make a very good point by giving awareness to such problems as Joseph Kony, but on the other side can they handle so much money given by donators to fulfill a specific purpose? There are many other charity programs and I think everybody should do their research about those organizatons first before donating money.

I completely disagree with Chris DeWinter because he says that.."After watching the video I believe that Kony needs to be taken care of." I understand what Chris is saying, but I am just being extremely critical. As a result, I don't think that Kony should be taken care of; rather, he should be taken down! In my eyes, he is a monster who is doing evil things. On the other hand, I agree with Chris DeWinter because I think that the U.S should do something to help restore peace in other parts of the world and not only the United States. Finally, although this is a heart-stopping video, I disagree with the fact the he is getting so much attention for doing such awful things. This is just a sign for other crazy people in the world to do bad things like this just in order to get attention from the media and other people arjound the nation. Overall, Kony should be taken down immediatly before anything else bad happens.

In regards to Al's question.
This is quite different than what we had discussed in class based on the fact that he is not a citizen of our country. I am not in favor of the death penalty for our country. I think that Kony should be arrested, but by who? Who has he hurt other than the people of his own country? I believe he should be arrested by the Ugandan government and they can do with him as they choose. They are not the United States. I have no opinion on the subject as it does not apply to me or the U.S.

I think that Kony should be stopped and brought to justice. It is not humanely right to do what he is doing with the children. This video has gotten the attention of the media and the United States, now they need to do something about it.

I think that the US government should get involved for sure because they are so powerful and the world will follow. Also, this video is a perfect example of the impact that we can all have if we get involved because first nothing was happening, but now people know about it and they are angry and want their voice heard. If we did this about more issues, even little things in just America, people would be happier with their societies.

I believe that currently the United States and other countries do not wish to enter this "war". The military of any government that attempts to invade/overthrow Kony faces a child army of 30,000 children in Uganda. By fighting the military would be spilling innocent children blood upon the soil of Uganda. Kony has come to force these kids into his army and require they kill their parents they do not simply join. The problem then remains as to who will come to destroy this country this country and slaughter thousands of children forced by a twisted man to hold a gun.

I believe that Kony must be stopped. The thought that a person could be that cruel to children is very disturbing. I also think that the US must get involved, but to what degree I do not know. I think that US involvement will help to bring involvement from other countries; I do not think however that the US should be the main country to shut this down. I think that other countries need to step it up and get involved around the world.

While this video presents a good issue, I feel like the charity is not credible. It seems as though most people are eager to jump on the bandwagon and be involved in a "cool" cause. It's good to spread the word, but this can be done without giving money for a "action pack" t shirt or posters. This can be done simply by writing to Wisconsin representatives or wherever a person is located. But who really wants to be the government to attack children? And also, there are so many other horrible people in the world to choose from.

As much as I hate what is going on in Africa, there really is not much that the U.S. can do. To be honest, this is a civil war being fought in those countries and when the U.S. tried to get involved in Vietnam, it did not go so well. If the U.S. tries to get extensively involved in yet another civil war, many innocent children who are only fighting so they don't get killed by Kony will be killed by the soldiers we send in who are trying to get to Kony. In the process, we will lose men and the Africans will lose children. It is a lose- lose situation. Yes, this particular video has gotten many people's attentions, but are the 82,000,000 viewers themselves going to go in and fight, sacrificing their lives, to defeat Kony? Most likely not. They may get some politicians' attentions, but the problem is getting to Kony. Most of the time he is hidden and now that he knows he is being looked for, he has taken more precautions and will be harder to find. Kony will use any means necessary to protect himself and most likely that will mean killing the soldiers that we send in. Also, Kony did not just suddenly appear. He has been terrorizing people for 26 years and there actually are soldiers currently in Africa trying to fight against Kony, just not as many as people would like. The military is deployed on a "limited time" mission that ends in 2012 and that is why this video is suddenly popular, in an attempt to catch Kony before the mission ends. It is a very sad situation and unfortunately, no matter what, people will be killed by Kony and his child army. Sadly, Kony is so ruthless that it is going to be very hard to catch him by the end of 2012.

I believe that the government should take care of Kony. I believe this because the government should help out other countries.

Kony should be brought down from his "reign of terror". He needs to be stopped. All the people in the world should know about the wrong-doings he has committed. This video was an inspiration of great magnitude, I have always believed that there is something out there where I could make a difference and save lives. These kinds of groups and actions are what keeps the people of this world safe from the horrible people like Kony, Hitler,Kim Jong Il and all those other people who think they can take over the lives of others.
