What kind of interest group has influenced this shift in policy? Which groups (specifically) might support this policy change?

Free education would be influenced by a public interest group that is looking out to better the public. Specifically The U.S. PIRG would be in support of this change because they are a interest group working on increasing aid for students and reducing book costs.

An interest group that supports lowering the cost of school would influence this because they would push that aid should be provided for poor students. After all every student deserves an education. Students shouldn't miss out on education because of a money problem they face. Fin Aid would support this because then school would be cheaper and they wouldn't require as much money to aid students in receiving an education.

A public interest group would be the kind of interest group that has influenced this shift in policy. However, it could be an economic interest group. An economic interest group could shift the policy in the direction of making the cost of school more affordable. A public interest group can shift this policy because it would want education to be less expensive for the general public. A specific group that might support this change is the US Public Interest Research Group. They support multiple public and interest group including one for lowering the cost of education.

I believe that public interest groups that would be looking to lower cost of schools would influence more students to go to college. OR increase financial aid and that would result in more students furthering their education.
