Please be specific. Name names. Give examples. (p.s. people right now, not a long time ago).

People that have political power are in positions of government or media. For example, Barack Obama has political power because he is the president of the United States. He can make laws and/ or alter them. One example of a person with political power in media would be news anchors on FOX or another network. They have Power in politics because they can run only the stories they wish to run, so they could influence they public with their own political ideals.

People who have political power are politicians who are backed by special interest groups. A easy example is the NRA, which is a widely supported gun advocate association. One senator they back is Max Baucus of Montana, who advocates for debates about "law abiding gun owners." So the people with the political power are George, Abraham, Jackson, and Franklin. Not in a literal sense but that money helps control the power through special interest groups.

A person that has main political power would be Barack Obama because he's the president and makes a lot of important decisions regarding the government and any laws that need to be made or changed. I also think that to some extent society has a tiny bit of political power, considering that as a whole we decide who we want to run the country. We get to choose whose ideas we agree with and who we think would do the best at running the country.

Political power comes from the position of the person it concerns. However, politics is and continues to be of wide-scope topic and influence. Obviously, our politicians and political leaders such as President Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner have significant political power in their respective duties and responsibilities. Both of these men have significant influence in the creation and alteration of laws and acts. Congruently, individuals such as school board members and our librarian also have political power due to their authorities and responsibilities. As superintendent, Dr. Thompson has significant influence on what school policies are adopted or changed. Likewise, Mrs. Watters has the power to monitor and regulate the students in her study halls.

There are a lot of very powerful people in the United States. One very powerful person is Barack Obama because he is the president of the United States. He can sign or veto legislation, command the armed forces, convene or adjourn Congress, ask for the written opinion of his Cabinet, grant reprieves and pardons, and receive ambassadors. That is a lot of power for one person. Another very powerful group of people is congress because they can lay and collect taxes and duties to pay debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the U.S.

There are many people that have political power. The President has the power to sign or veto laws, but the congress can also create and vote for laws.If the President is not behaving properly the congress and supreme court can impeach the president. There is no one who has all the power in the United States government.

Someone like the president of the United States would have political powers because he is the one that can sign or veto laws and he makes important decisions regarding the entire country which influences peoples lives. The media also does have political power because it can influence fans/people watching to see certain stories or do certain things.

A person that has political power is someone who is backed by the people because they agree with them. for example someone who is elected into congress, like Paul Ryan, has power because people agree with his ideas and will support his actions as a elected official. So because people support him and his ideas he has power over the people, but also since the people decide who gets elected the people who vote also have political power.

Political power in the United States Government is gained by election. Those who have been elected by citizens derive power from the people. Politicians play a huge roll in today's society because or their expanding influence on special interest groups. These individuals have risen to power by the people who follow their views. Certain leaders in our government, such as the President, Senators, and Representatives, are all elected to make decisions for our country and balance the power within. Ultimately, we the citizens have an underlying political power, as our government is strongly based around the people.

People that have political power include all government officials. When people run for office and get elected they obtain political power. For example, Barack Obama has a great amount of political power. As the president of the United States of America, Obama is able to sign or veto bills introduced by Congress, sign treaties with other countries, and can issue other executive orders such being in command of the military while at war. Senators and representatives have political power because their main job is to create laws. Laws affect everyone because they make people act in certain ways. Having political power comes with great responsibility because many people are affected by the decisions that government officials make.

In the United States today there are multiple sources of political power. For example Barrack Obama the president of the United States has the power to negotiate treaties, sign or veto certain bills that are brought to him from the congress, command armed forces, and ask for written opinions from his cabinet. The media is another source of political power as they provide info to the people which may not be true but based on that info the citizens use it to vote. Lastly the congress has power like to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States

Today in the united states the people who have the most political power would be people in government and the media. An example of someone in government who has political power would be our president Barack Obama. He has the power to veto laws and has total control of our army and makes big decisions for our country. The media also has political power because whatever the media says is what the people believe which is why they are so powerful. They can put whatever stories they want on the news and do not need to tell us everything and only tell us what they want us to know and believe.

I'm liking your answers to this question. Lots of specifics and supporting evidence. Well done. The voters also have power because they influence outcomes (although this wouldn't be specific enough for your post). For example, remember when you voted on what 'Eleven Minute Lecture you are interested in? It looks like "Don't Need Anything" won, but "How we Learn" took 2nd. So I'll talk about "How we Learn" for 11 minutes maximum on Tuesday. Looking forward to it.

Barrack Obama has political power because of many reasons. He was elected to be president of the united states, the highest position of power in America. President Obama also commands America's armed forces giving him the power to control our military. He also has political power over congress, because he can veto bills that are passed through congress.

I think (obviously) Barack Obama has political power. He has the power to sign or veto laws, but the congress can also create and vote for laws. I don't think there is one person who has all of the political power, though. I say that because the congress and supreme court has the power to impeach the President if need be.

Many people in the U.S. have political power. For one, President Obama has political power to pass or veto laws among other duties. Congress also has political power in creating laws, declaring war, and it also has the power to impeach. Another example is the people of America who have the ability to vote for their representatives and how they think things should be run.

In my opinion, the three groups that have political power are the people, elected officials, and the media. The people have power because they can vote to have certain politicians be put in power. Elected officials can create new policies and laws, and change old laws. Finally, the media has power because they can influence the opinions of the people by only showing certain issues or by manipulating what politicians say.

I think that Texas holds the most political power. In texas' constitution there is a clause that allows it to split into five separate states without the approval of congress. If texas did this it would effectively give it 10 votes in the senate. Since Texas is predominantly right wing this would add a lot of power towards right wing policies. If a policy threatened Texas in any way it could split up and vote against it with a larger number of votes that currently possible. In addition to this clause Texas is worth 38 electoral votes, the second highest number of votes for a state. Whichever party can gain Texas in the presidential election has a large advantage in winning the election.

One of the predominant holders of political power today is the media. A more specific example of this could be the power that a reporter such as Chuck Todd holds. Todd is a former White House correspondent for NBC, which allowed him to cover major events in Washington such as presidential speeches. On such an occasion, Todd holds political power because his tone and diction choices affect how people watching his correspondence view the event that he is covering. Todd also recently became the host of Meet the Press. Here he has political power because while interviewing different members of the government, his questions and comments can frame a person or idea positively or negatively. People watching Todd could be swayed in elections because of him, and therefore Todd and other media sources have a great deal of power over who and what party are in control of the government.

People who have the political power are The President as chief of the executive branch. He ultimately decides the policy, but the Congress and the Supreme Court can stop him cold, if they do not think he is acting properly. These are the checks and balances on his political power. Voters and various money and special interests also indirectly influence the policy that the President pursues.

All people can have political power, but the amount ranges. The president of the United States of America has a lot of political power and has the ability to influence many people. People in congress and all those who have been elected into some position in the government, whether it be at the small scale such as a city government, or a large scale as in state or national government. People who exercise their right to vote also have political power because they are the ones who choose who represents them in the government. A person with more supporters has more political power as they can influence the decisions made by the government.

Both of my examples are people who were elected by nobody, but when they want political action to occur those who are elected do not hesitate to comply. Diane Hendricks is one example, she is the former President of ABC Supply Co in Beloit, WI. She is also the richest woman in Wisconsin with a 4.8 billion net worth. Any decision she wanted or still wants that regards any sort of Beloit area business, it happens. My other example is Michelle Obama. From a political position she has created government programs in schools that are no longer "guidelines", but they have become mandatory rules that can be declined but with a penalty.

I think that almost everyone has political power, but the amount of power they have varies. The president holds a lot of political power because he is the executive branch of the United States government. He has the power to veto an legislature and he is the commander in chief of the armed forces. The members of the House of Representatives and the Senate also have a lot of political power because they have the ability to create laws. Any political figure, whether it be state, national, or another level, has political power. Anyone Who exercises their right to vote has political power.

When I have to think of someone that has political power in America, the first person that comes to mind is our president, Barack Obama. He has earned his political power based on different policies he has implemented within our country. The first example that shows how he has political power is the Affordable Care Act. President Obama implemented that in hopes of providing affordable healthcare for all americans, no matter their income level. He developed that to better the nation and move the country forward. The second example that shows how he has political power is in terms of Isis. The president is addressing the threat Isis poses by creating a coalition of foreign nations. He is able to work with other nations to gain international support for his cause. Those are two reasons I believe that shows how president Obama has political power in America.

Pretty much anyone can have political power, but the main holder of the U.S. political power is our national government. The three branches equalize the power within the national government. The biggest branch that holds power is the executive branch. The president is able to veto bills and make laws that congress proposes to him. This shows a very large amount of political power. But political power can be locally within our town to. Even small club leaders can hold political power, that goes to show that pretty much anyone can hold political power.

Many people have political power, but it is not all equal. One person with political power is Rep. John Boehner, the speaker of the house. He is elected by the whole of the House of Representatives, and acts as leader of the House and combines several roles; one of which is representing the majority party in the House. The Speaker of the House is second in line to succeed the President, after the Vice President.

Hi. FYI. The Supreme Court plays no role in the impeachment of a president (however the Chief Justice is the presiding officer in the Senate if a president is impeached. He presides over the impeachment trial that determines if the president will be removed from office).

People that have political power can be found at all levels of government. One person who holds a lot of political power is the President of the United States, Barack Obama. The President has the power to sign or veto legislation and, with the approval of two-thirds of the House of Representatives and one-half of the Senate, can sign treaties and appoint judges. Another person who has political power on a much smaller level is the Mayor of Milwaukee, Tom Barrett. He presides over the city and is allowed to enact legislation such as certain taxes and laws, which affect the people directly.

In my opinion, all American citizens have political power, but it is their choice whether to use it or not. Some American citizens have more political power than others because they are well known for their views and they are influential because others agree with them such as Congressmen. When it comes down to it the American citizens have the power to choose the people who represent them, and ultimately the political power to choose how the government will be run. Once those representatives are elected they hold to political power to run the government well, and to not disappoint those who elected them into that postition.

In my opinion, there isn't one person or group in our government that has the political power. I believe that our government has an efficient system of checks and balances that prevent one person or group from having all of the political power. The American government is split into 3 branches; executive, legislative, and judicial. Each branch is in charge of their own part of the government and each branch has a way of keeping the other branches in check and limit their powers. For example, in the making of a law, Congress (legislative branch) can form a bill. The bill must go onto the president (executive branch) where it will be decided if it will be passed or not. The president has the power to veto the bill, but Congress has to power to override the veto with enough votes. This is only one of many examples of how the political power in America is separated among 3 sections of government in order to maintain balance. In conclusion, American government is not focused on one person or group that has the political power, instead it is divided among group in a separation of power.

We can't be naive enough to believe that power works in the ideal way that we have been taught. In truth, the people and special interest groups who have the most leverage and funding typically find themselves in positions of political power. They work behind the scenes in order to pass bills and legislation and lift regulations in order to make their business or group further succeed and grow. Not only money talks, but also the influence each group has. For example, if a car manufacturer wants to change factory regulations to make it cheaper to produce product, they use their influence to get the legislation passed.

A person with major political power would be Barack Obama because he is backed up by a main political group that has made him president. That gives him the power to make major political decisions regarding the country. Also people like Paul Ryan has political power too.

People that have political power would be for example people like the president, Barack Obama. Also people in the senate or congress have a say in the laws that pass, therefore they have political power over us.
