I think that the most important cases that the Supreme Court will be looking at will involve gun control. With incidents such as the movie theatre shooting in Colorado, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, and more recently the Navy Yard shooting in Washington dc I will look for this highly debated matter on gun restrictions/bans to come up many times in the Supreme Court. I also plan on seeing cases involving health care, gay rights, and illegal immigration to be looked over and debated in the Supreme Court as well.

Affirmative Action, that if colleges can take race into account when accepting college students. I will watch it because I am applying to colleges, so it matters more for me right now. Same-sex marriage, gun control, voting rights and healthcare will be among the most important cases.

I think with the recent violence and shootings, gun control will be at the top of the list. I think that is the most important and what most people will watch. What I will watch however will be gay rights. I think that topic will be interesting to see how they handle it.

I believe that the Supreme court will begin their new term with the talk of gun control. Gun control laws and the controversy along with it has been a big issue for a very long time. After the movie theater shooting, the Newtown Connecticut shooting, and the Navy Yard shooting we as a country need to find a way to hinder criminals from attaining weaponry. This should be done by strengthening mental health requirements. Other issues that are extremely important and need to be resolved are health care, illegal immigration, same-sex marriage, and voter rights.

The supreme court will mainly focus on cases that pertain to gun control. The world has become a very corrupt place and has recently had numerous shooting. They want to limit that down to no shootings, so therefore they will want to look into the gun control cases. It is most important because if guns are placed into the wrong hands it puts many citizens in danger. I will be watching this as well because I do not want anymore harm done to innocent people.

I think that the most needed case to be worked out in the supreme court involves gun control. To many shooting happen in our country because guns are easily assessable. To me limiting the sales of guns would would be step one on stoping these shootings. I will be watching this debate come up many times in the supreme court, and hope a law is passed, because to many innocent people are being killed.

Gun control will be a priority in discussion upon the Supreme Court. Because of incidents, crime, rebellion and just proper and misuse of a gun. To regulate yet let sportsman still use regularly can be a challenge. Banning firearms should not be an option at all, even semi-auto; it is not fair to those that use it with caution and for trapshooting, hunting and recreational shooting. This court case will definitely be a major one.

I believe that the new term of the Supreme Court will start out with gun control. It has been a hot topic for years because of all of the shootings, lawsuits, and protests. I believe there would be new restrictions on the sale of firearms. They may ban all semi-automatic assault rifles and large magazines, and/or they can provide stricter background checks. Stricter background checks could possibly be better background checks on criminals, mentally ill, and possible psychopaths. Also, they could require background checks at gun shows too. This is only one of the many major issues that will hopefully be resolved during this term.

In my opinion gag marriage will be the next and biggest cases. Same sex marriage has become a very large topic in today's society and with the majority of the general population leaning toward for same sex marriage it's hard to ignore. Next will be gun control because of the recent shooting and the not so recent shootings. People do and don't want gun control. Some people want the government to take control of gun laws and other poeple don't want the government to tell then what to do.

Within this upcoming Supreme Court term I think the most important case will be regarding gun control. Shootings like the movie theater shooting in Colorado, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut, and locally the Sikh temple shooting all have drawn a lot of public attention to gun rights. Other important cases that I plan to see are abortion, same-sex marriage, and health care.

I believe that the most important case that the Supreme Court will look at is gun control. There have been so many incidents lately involving gun control and I think it will be a heated debate in the court. I look forward to watching this unfold and I also plan on watching the issue of gay rights, as the topic will be interesting to learn more about.

I think that the Supreme court will focus mostly on gun control because of all of the shootings that have gone on in the past year. Although they are going to also probably focus on other issues involving same sex marriage and health care, I feel that as of right now their main focus will be on the gun control. There has been a lot of debate on whether or not there should be restrictions on guns because of the mass shootings that have gone on; therefore, I feel like this will be a hot topic for the Supreme court at the start of this new term.

I believe that gun control will be the next big case that the Supreme Court will focus on. Gun control is on everyone's mind from the Colorado shooting and the Newtown Connecticut massacre. It has effected communities around us as well. For example the Sikh temple. With all these deaths occurring I believe that gun control will be the main focus of the Supreme Court.

Unknown said...

The next big case of the Supreme Court will deal with gun control. Many more restrictions are getting put on guns and who can get them. Many incidents have happened recently such as school shootings. These guns are getting in the hands of the wrong people and used for the wrong things. I also am looking forward to see the issues on gay marriage and healthcare.

I think that there will be many important cases coming up very soon. There are many situations that need to be looked at such as gun control, gay rights, health care and cyber bullying. I believe that all have a very big impact on everyone so one is not greater than the others. With recent shootings involving automatic weapons, gun control will definitely be a big case. Gay rights will be big because of all the protesting and everyone saying that all people have to be equal. Health care might come up again as well just because not many people agree with Obama so it might be tried again in the Supreme Court. And lastly, cyber bullying should be a big one as well just because it has been going on much more often lately and is causing major problems. All of these will be very interesting to see.

For me personally, affirmative action will be the most important and relevant case. All students looking to go on to college should be watching this case and how it develops as it will effect college applicants. Gun control will also be very important due to the heavy media coverage of all gun related problems. It will be interesting to see what they decide and what kind of backlash occurs.

I believe cases involving affirmative action will be the most interesting to watch. I also see the court discussing other important cases such as abortion protests and rights, constitutional issues, public prayer, voting and campaign contributions, and gun control.

While the violent crimes are headlining across the country, I do not think that gun control will be the most important court case for the Supreme Court. I believe that the most important Supreme Court case will have to do with the NSA and internet privacy. After it was revealed that the NSA was documenting the activities of most every citizen, while, making some conspiracy theorists very happy, it angered many citizens. I think that the next court case will have to do with the amount that the NSA could spy on American citizens, the extent to which providing for national dfense and the necessary and proper clause could go without infringing on Constitutional rights, and whether the government is able to censor the internet. All three have to do with the size and control of the national government on the citizen. Many are questioning whether the national government should be allowed to spy on the everyday citizen, and if the national government is able to censor a free entity of the world. I think it will be interesting to see the court cases. The Supreme Court would most likely allow the NSA's documenting the lives of citizens due to post-terrorism psychology, and would not allow for the censorship of the internet unless it was proven that some sites were hurting the interests of business entities.

The most important case that will be brought to the supreme court will be about gun control. With all the shootings that have occurred recently (Sandy Hook, Navy Yard, ext.) it would be interesting how the Justices vote on the people's right to be secure and the right to bear arms. I'm sure that they will just put some sort of tighter restrictions on them. I think the NSA thing will be a dud they can easily claim it's overall a security precaution. I just wonder who the Justices will rule on the issues.

Nic Blommel said...

I think the next big supreme court cases will be gun control and gay rights cases. Gun control is a topic that is very important at the moment because of all the shootings that have happened recently, and it has people on both sides of the argument very worked up. Gay rights activists have also been gaining support recently so I think that the supreme Court will have to make a decision there as well.

Unknown said...

With the new term of Supreme Court coming up, I'll be looking closely for new laws on gay marriage and gun control. Both have become two major issues in today's world. Both are very sensitive topics that have been put on the back burner for quite some time. However, due to current events (such as base shootings) I believe Supreme Court will start to dive into them more.

Unknown said...

With the new term of the Supreme Court, the most important cases will be about gun control and homosexual rights. Many Americans believe that gun control is a prevalent issue today because of the recent shootings, for example: the Navy yard shooting and Sandy Hook. Homosexual rights will also be a big court case for the Supreme Court because it involves the interpretation of the Constitution. All the cases that the Supreme Court hears are important, but gun control and homosexual rights cases are the most important.

I think that the supreme court will most likely be focusing on medical marijuana, and regulatory use of marijuana. I feel that this has been one of the most heated debates in America today and I think that it will be interesting in the future. Because marijuana is illegal at the federal level, the supreme court should rule that it is illegal in all of the United States including the states that have legalized it. But there are many opinions that would take place in the case.

Anonymous said...

The cases I think are most important are the cases probably most debated recently than any others: gun control and gay marriage rights. The only reason I will pay attention to those and watch about them is because of the opinions I have about them, about things mentioned in the Constitution and how the government should remain neutral when it comes to religion in politics and other things I will refrain from mentioning to avoid more debate. However, those are what I will most watch for...

That is if the country doesn't default on all of our debts on the 18th because no one can reach a compromise before then (Happy Birthday to me).

I think new gay marriage cases will come up to the supreme court and be strongly debated. I also think gun control, health care, photo I.D. issues may come up. It will be interesting to watch which way Roberts and Kennedy lean towards in the coming cases.

Unknown said...

I agree with Michael and a few others, gay marriage is an important case. On the other hand the Supreme Court has already made a ruling on that after striking down the DOMA act that denied legally married homosexual couples recognition and rights in the eyes of the law. I feel a more important case is the gun control and its affiliation with the second amendment. As stated by Tony there have been many recent large scale shootings that some feel are because of loose gun laws. This is the case to watch as it could lead to some more interesting developments.

I think the most interesting case debated is McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission. This is about limits for campaign donations. After the 2010 Citizens United case, the Supreme Court opened the door to huge Super PACs. This case has the potential to eliminate the remaining campaign finance rules and could have and even bigger impact on our democracy.

I agree with the majority of my classmates, as I believe the Supreme Court will be focusing on cases involving gun control. Due to the seemingly vast amount of violence and shootings in recent years, I think it is a top priority that absolutely needs to be addressed. The topics of gun control and arm rights have been controversial to U.S. Citizens for quite some time now, so it is only fitting that it takes precedence. Because the Supreme Court is likely to take into account the cases that most directly impact the safety of U.S. citizens, I think they will begin with gun control. However, the cases that I will be watching will involve Affirmative Action. This is because I am currently applying and will be continuing to apply to colleges. If certain colleges heavily take race into account when accepting students, I want to know about it. Cases like these also interest me. For example, Grutter v. University of Michigan Law and Gratz v. University of Michigan. I also think that cases involving same-sex marriage and healthcare will be very important. If these cases interest me or challenge what I believe, I will tune into them as well.

I think in light of recent events, gun control will be a primary focus of the Supreme Court. However, other cases that are prominent in society and will most likely be discussed in the Supreme Court include gay rights, and of course health care. It will be interesting, expecially with the government shut down, to see what happens regarding health care.

I think that the NSA and its collecting of personal computer use will be a huge case in the upcoming Supreme Court. Although Gen. Keith B. Alexander justified NSA's actions, most internet users were and are not happy. The Supreme Court will have to decide if it is okay for the government to so closely monitor its citizens even if they can say it is a form or terrorist prevention. It is also a form or privacy invasion. I am interested in what could become of this debate.

Unknown said...

My opinion would be gun control, gay rights, and the health care. These are all major problems in the U.S. First gun control because there have been so many shootings happening, the gay rights because it is such a discrimination to those people. Lastly, health care because too many people are getting it free, when the people who work hard have to pay for it. I will be watching all three cases.

Anonymous said...

In the new Supreme Court term, I believe gun control and affirmative action will be the most debated issues. Both topics have been widely debated and have the attention of the public. I also think gay marriage and voting rights could be a big topic based on the different views of the American public as a whole.

Unknown said...

I believe that all of the cases are very important, however, I think it will be very interesting to see how the Supreme Court handles the cases based on health care, same-sex marriage, and gun control. These cases have been controversial in the past so it is hard to predict what the verdict will be or if a verdict at all will come anytime soon. Problems with gun control have been especially controversial recently because of tragedies like the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Anonymous said...

I will be watching to see how the United States Supreme Court handles LGBT rights. After the milestones this summer, hopefully the Supreme Court will legalize gay marriage, as well as other rights that all Americans deserve.

Unknown said...

I believe that the most important current issue is with privacy and surveillance. I want a decision to be reached about he legality of the NSA surveillance and other forms of government dealings that the public is not privy to. I will also be interested in any rulings on gun control and health care.

Unknown said...

Mainly I will be watching the decision the Supreme Court makes on gay marriage rights. It's a relevant and controversial topic that is on the minds of the people of America, wether they support it or not.

Unknown said...

I agree with almost everyone else and say that the most important cases the Supreme Court handles will pertain to gun control and gay marriage. This is because these are some largely controversial topics today and, no matter if we agree with them or not, they are issues that we and the government are going to face and have been facing for awhile

Unknown said...

I believe that in the Supreme Court's new term, gun control will be the most discussed issue. Ever since last year, the number of shootings occurring in the United States is increasing. Solutions have been shown, but much controversy is present due to the second amendment right to bear arms. Background checks and sales of specific weapons are the most recognized parts of gun control at the moment.

Unknown said...

I think that the most important cases that have been occurring, are about gun control, same-sex marriage, and crime control. I will be looking forward to watching how the gun-control laws are put into affect and what owners think about them. This will help the crime control because there has recently been a lot of issues that are riding on the gun control laws in order to convict these criminals.

Anonymous said...

I belive i posted on this before but cant seem to find my comment to edit it. Anyway, i believe that gun control will be the most important thing that comes up in the near future. I believe this because guns are still constantly being blamed for the deaths of people around our country and others. I feel that this will continue to happen until both parties agree on gun laws that are both safe for our country's citizens but at the sane time does not infringe on our second amendment.

Unknown said...

I have already posted to this question however there is another court case that I think will be brought up in the future. That case is going to be gun control and whether or not the governments ability to control what kinds of guns and ammunition someone cam buy. I think that the the court will rule gun control unconstitutional because it states in the bill of rights that all citizens have the right to keep and bear arms. Plus there is really no reason for gun control because in all cities or states that have gun control, the crime rates are the highest. For example Chicago illinoise has some of the strictest gun control laws in all of the United States and yet has one of the highest crime rates. Another example is Washington D.C where it is pretty much illegal to own a gun, and yet this city has some of the highest crime and murder rates of any city in the U.S. It has also been proven that in any state or area where concealed carry is legal crime has gone down. Also when you look at all of the shootings that happened last year all of them were in a gun free zone. You never saw a mass shooting at a gun show or inside a gun store because the people inside could protect themselves. Instead at the Sandy Hook School there was no guns aloud inside by any personnel, at the movie theatre it was posted that that theatre was a gun free zone and that citizens could not bring there guns inside. Criminals are not going to go into a place where they know that someone may have a gun and may be able to protect themselves. Instead they decide to go into areas where guns are not permitted because they know that they can have a free for all. Also you have to think when someone is breaking into your house or shooting at you who do you call. You call the police, and why do you call the police. Well because they have guns and have the ability to protect you and themselves. We can't protect people through gun control because it does not work, it will end up hurting more citizens than it helps, and it is unconstitutional because of the second amendment.

Anonymous said...

I think that gun control issues will be a huge focus. Laws or rules to but some bans on guns. Some states still have different laws and they might try to make it more of a uniform thing throughout the country

Unknown said...

I think with the beginning of a new turn the case that will be most touched on is Gun Control. This case has been shot back and forth for quite some time now and is always coming back full circle with no outcome. This is a very important topic and I think everybody only hears little bits of information and different stories from all over, which then leads into false ideas of what the government is truly going to do about the case. So, if we can decide on a definite decision about gun control confusion will be lessened.

Unknown said...

I think for us seniors, Affirmative Action can be very applicable because majority of us are going away to college, and Affirmative Action deals with accepting teenagers into college. Gun control will also be a main important case because of violence, crime, rebellion, and illegal purchasing. I believe that the restrictions on gun control will be most prevalent in the talk about the case of gun control.

I believe that the Supreme Court will be mainly concerned with same sex marriage. I feel gun control wont involve the Supreme Court, rather more of a state issue. I also don't think health care will come up in the supreme court.

Unknown said...

I believe that gun control will be the most important issue for the Supreme Court because today we are hearing about all the violence in the world. There have also been several large shootings that have occurred within the last few years. I will be watching this issue.

Anonymous said...

I think that the majority of the court cases that will be looked at will be pertaining to gun control. There have been numerous shootings in the recent years and I think that the Supreme Court will want to regulate gun control in the states. Many states already have gun control laws, but I think a national regulation will be put into place with this new term of Supreme Court.

Anonymous said...

The top two most important issues will probably be gun control and gay marriage. Both topics have very strong supports on both sides. With national shootings becoming more apparent, I think gun control will be the most prevalent in the upcoming months. However, more and more states are allowing gay marriage. They have even taken gay marriage a step further by now discussing divorces among gay couples. Both topics will remain in the hot seat for the rest of the year.
