Now that you have watched some academic videos online, what are your thoughts? What parts of the videos do you like? What suggestions do you have to make the videos better? Do you like curating or watching better? Other constructive thoughts?

I think that the videos helped clarify the meaning of some of the vocabulary terms. This project worked well for this chapter since the election was happening at the same time. It would be much harder to do if we were on an earlier chapter in the book.

I liked how the videos make it easier to understand some of the vocabulary and go more in depth on the vocabulary. the curating project was good except some of the learning targets were very easy to find videos and articles where others were next to impossible and didnt seem as applicable as the others.

Watching the videos online helped me better understand the content we were learning. It did help with the vocabulary terms. For me I like curating them because when I am just watching I may not be fully paying attention. While when I'm curating I have to actually be analyzing the video.

Watching the videos online was nice because we were learning about elections now, and the 2012 election was going on. Otherwise it could have been alot harder. I like curating so we all could see the best video or article. Overall it was a fun learning experience!

i like your videos better than curating, i understand the materail better and helps me master the chapter more efficiently.

The videos help emphasize what we are learning in the unit and they repeat important lessons from the book but I like curating better because we have to pay attention and be engaged in what we are curating

I think the videos gave me more understanding because they were real life examples of the terms. The parts of the videos I liked were the ones were the term we were looking for was very obvious and clear in the video. To make the videos better, some should not be as long in length. I like curating because it allows for us to go out and search for what we beleive are examples. After reading the textbook, it was a lot easier to curate.

I prefer the videos, I feel like I learn the concepts more thoroughly (because the info is coming from a teacher). Curating was nice for the last chapter because it was VERY relevant to the "now". Otherwise, I feel like curating would have been very difficult.

The curating was a good idea for this last chapter because the election was happening at the time, making it easier to find examples. I like the videos much more. They clarify any vocabulary that I'm stuck on and answer questions that I might have.

I feel like curating our own videos was a nice change of pace (which is always good) and a good learning experience however, I prefer your videos better. I feel that I learn more that way. One thought is to have more time to go over each groups videos because I don't feel like I got to see many examples.

I really enjoyed searching for videos and other "real-life" examples of the concepts we learned from our textbook. I find that seeing vocabulary words applied to actual situations helps me to remember them, which is the ultimate goal. The point of these learning objectives is not to memorize them for a test, but to be able to apply them to our lives, and I think curating videos is very helpful to achieve this goal.

I like that the videos are directly from you and have a good explanation. I also like that I can watch the videos on my own time, it is also nice to be able to pause and rewind the videos. I like videos better for those reasons.

Personally, I haven't watched a vocabulary video. However, I do google the vocab words I do not understand. I don't like learning from videos, I would rather read a dictionary definition and use videos as a last resort because I can visualize words better than someone explaining it to me. Also, explaining the words to someone else is very helpful. Statistics show that most of what is taught to others is retained by the teacher.

I like watching your videos better than curating since I learn more from your videos. Curating did work well for this last chapter due to the presidential election.

I liked curating videos and articles for the last chapter because the resources we were finding were directly related to life events. Curating for this chapter(s) would be far more difficult because videos and articles we would curate would most likely not be related to current events in our life. They would mostly be articles and videos explaining who John Lock is, and what the mayflower compact is. These videos would probably not be very helpful in connecting us directly to the material.

i feel like the videos help me understand the vocab words and key terms better. i also like curating because when im watching the videos i don't comprehend everything that is being said. when curating i think through the video more.

I like watching the videos more than I like curating them. It allows me to learn the vocabulary better and understand the content.

Watching the videos is much more helpful than curating them. Watching them you get what you need to learn for the chapter and more of what is on the test. Even though we are here to learn the videos guide us more. Curating did work for that last chapter but I did not learn as much as I did in the previous chapters that had videos.

Watching the videos helps clarify and explain the information we are learning in the chapter. I like how you can pause the videos so you can take notes on pause then resume watching after you have written stuff down. I like watching the videos over curating because watching the videos help clarify the LO more than curating did.

I enjoy your video notes better than curating videos. Curating videos to me seemed, too time consuming. I think it would have been better to curate videos for extra credit. I don't really watch any videos pertaining to our vocabulary.

The videos helped me to apply the terms to real-life situations. However, especially for some of the easier to grasp concepts, I found the process somewhat unnecessarily time-consuming.

I think that watching videos online are helpful with terms that I am not familiar with. Curating videos was a good idea for the last set of L.O. because the elections were going on. I would prefer to watch videos rather than curate them because it helps me understand concepts and LOs better.

I liked the fact that we were able to curate videos that were from the ongoing election. It made it much easier to find connections to the campaign process and see how they are being used now. But I also like watching because the vocabulary and actual concepts of the chapters are explained more in depth.

I like the academic videos that we were shown online. I like it when the videos show charts and graphs. This is because I am a visual learner and seeing the information being tatught helps me process it. I like it when good videos are shown to me instead of me finding bad videos that do not teach me anything.

I think that curating the videos were a good source to learn from for this chapter because it was relevant. The chapter went well with what was going on in the news which made it easier to curate videos. I believe if we tried to do this with any other chapter it would be a lot harder. Which then I would prefer your videos, just because I feel like the times might have change from the time the video we curate was done.

Curating videos was a good source for learning, but i would not prefer it for how long it took. I prefer just watching videos and taking notes.

Unknown said...

I prefer taking notes from the videos you make. I find it more time efficient because while we were curating we were finding some videos that didn't even relate to our targets and it took a lot of time to find good examples. The videos help to understand the main points of the chapter and the vocab. I like that you go over terms that we need to know that weren't really mentioned in the book, such as the state of nature.

I think the videos are a great idea because we take notes out of the book on our own so we're learning by ourselves, but there are things that still need to be clarified. I think the videos do a great job clarifying everything and even if there is nothing to clarify, they are still a good summary.

Watching some videos (cram for the exam) really helped me when I was reviewing for the AP tests

Watching videos on federalism really helped clear up some questions I had on the topic. They were also enjoyable because the speakers in the videos kept the topic interesting and kept me engaged to keep watching more.
