Will the 47% comments impact the polls and the outcome of the election, or will it prove to be a minor distraction for a brief period (see Obama guns/religion comments in '08).

The 47 percent will definatley impactthe election everyones opinions is accounted for in these desisions, 47 percent is alot of votes and even today obamas comments can sway the voters either way so the answer is yes!!

Romney's comment on 47% of Americans not paying income tax was essentially expressing his lack of care for that group. While some may remember the comment and choose not to vote for Romney (ultimately affecting the election), others may forget. However, with the media of today, and the type of cut throat politics we are used to, forgetting these insensitive comments will be difficult. In the end, I believe that the comment will hurt Romney severely in running for president, but whether the damage is irreparable, I don't know.

The comments will impact the polls because many voters that were undecided about who they were going to vote for in the election may not vote for Romney now based on his comments.

The comment will impact the election because any voter who was still undecided will be able to take those comments into consideration.

I think it will only be a minor distraction because his followers will still be loyal to him, and independent (undecided) voters will mainly care about the candidates' political policies. I think Paul Ryan will do a great job refocusing the attention back on his and Romney's plan to fix America. Romney will need some of that 47% vote to win the election, so it will be very tough for him. This example is a reason why politicians cannot say the truth because it will hurt them politically!

I do think that the 47% comment will affect the election because 47% is a large percenage and every vote counts in such a close election. So even if some people forget about the comment others will not and it could sway their vote one way or another.

This presidential election has been a close raise and many are undecided. EVERY vote counts! This is why goverment and politics matter becuase we should know where we stand on the popular issues so we can make a smart decessions in such a close race. Any comment a candidate makes could "make it, or break it" for them at this point.

47% is a large percentage, so i believe that the comments will impact the outcome and polls because every vote counts. Anything one of the candidate says will change the perspective of someone at this point of time.

If Romney is right about the 47% not voting for him, then I believe that this comment will only be a minor distraction. He may have turned some people completely against him, but like he said, they were not exactly for him in the first place. He definitely did not help persuade them to his side, but his comment shows that he did not plan on doing so.

It may, but not very much. Almost all of those 47% were not going to vote for Romney as it was. Also the undecided people will look at the key issues if they are informed. If they are not informed, it is most likely that they never herd of this in the first place.

By Romney expressing his lack of desire for the 47% of Americans not paying their income tax, I believe he severely ruined his run for president. Although there will be people who will be able to look over this incident, many others will remember this comment and vote against Romney. I don't know whether his damage is reparable, but any voter who was undecided will definitely take his latest statement into consideration.

The 47 percent comments will impact the the polls because the election is close and the comments might sway the undecided voters. their comments could also impact them negatively and they might lose some votes as well.

These comments will be of minor importance in the grand scheme of the election. Those who have taken the most offense from these comments are people who have already decided to vote for President Obama. Independent voters might take this into consideration, but they will most likely vote based on other political beliefs.

I think that Romney's 47% comments will definately impact the outcome of the election. With the election so close, many Americans are going to have to carefully consider everything that has been said these past few months by both running canidates that may have helped or hindered their campaign.

Romney is currently making more and more mistakes as the near election date is closing in. This may be a minor distraction for a brief period of time; however, on election day the voters will probably remember a lot more mishaps pertaining to Romney.

I believe the 47% comment will impact the polls because many voters will not agree with Romney's statement. Those voters who were undecided before he made the comment may sway away from Romney because they may not agree with what he says.

The 47% comments won't have much of an impact on the polls. Romney's followers will stay loyal to him, sometimes just because he is Republican. Most people seem to be concerned with the big plans candidates have for the US anyway and not with the little comments that they say.

The 47% may or many not have big impact on the campaign for Romney. It depends completely on how well the Obama campaign plays it out. If they run many ads in important states reminding people that Romney made those comments, then it will be a major problem for the Romney campaign. However, if the Obama campaign lets the comments fade into the past then many people will probably forget about the comments by election time.

The 47% comment will turn out to be a minor distraction for a brief period because there is still a debate and quite a bit of time left for Mitt Romney to make up for his comment.

The 47% will turn out to ruin his campaign after he said 47% dont pay their income tax. I believe that more people will decide not to vote from him because of that.

The 47 percent will undoubtably be insulted for a period of time, but in the long run the 47 percent will forget about the comment and it will not effect the polls. Romneys insensitive comments will definetly cause some voters to not vote for him. But the american public has a very short term memory and will forget about the comment once something else comes up.

Yes his comments on the 47% will impact the polls because these comments will impact the decisions of undecided voters who may be in that 47%.

I do not believe that the 47% comment will affect the the outcome of the election. Both candidates have said things that "could" sway certain people a certain way, and this comment is no different. I think that it is just a minor distraction.

Kyle Johnson-Evers said...

I do not think it will impact the election. It may swing a couple votes but it will mostly reinforce what many people think about him and the other group will not be effected by it because of there strong agreement to some other of his plans.

the 47% will have somewhat of an impact on the voters that have undecided and possibly some on Romney's side because he could have shown carelessness to the midddle class people. It probably will affect the election.

Unknown said...

The 47% will impact the polls and the election because it will help the undecided voters make a choice on who to vote for and by the comments maybe they will not vote for Romney.

I do not think the 47% comment will have much of an affect on the moderate or undecided voters, and these are the people who will most likely vote to decide the election. The supporters of Mitt Romney will stay loyal to him, just as the supporters of Obama will stay loyal to Obama.

Looking back as the election is coming to a close, I do not believe that the 47% comment has made that big of a difference in the election. Election day is in five days and the election is extremely close with many states still undecided.

Good job nick you did a good job explaining your reasoning and you made valid points.
