I was actually very surprised when they said in the video that Sonia Sotomayor would be only the third woman to serve as a justice on the Supreme Court. I would have thought there had been a lot more women justices on the court in past years.

That North Korea testing a nuke is some pretty scary stuff. IMO, it must not be very important if nobody has acted on it yet.

I can understand why the people in that small town in Montana don't want the detainees to be moved there. I wouldn't want terrorists near my home either, but they might have to make a sacrifice. The prison seems pretty well equipped and ready. I actually think it would be a good idea to move them there.

Drew, I agree with you about the fact that it would be a good idea to move the prisoners there. But also, I hate to think how I would feel if prisoners were moved down the street from me.

Well with north Korea, president Obama will be having stern talks with them and probably not do anything passed that. I don't think it is fair to move those prisoners to Montana. They are citizens of our countryand remember equality of outcome! But in all seriousness I'm glad Obama is planting terrorists in our own citizens back yards, brilliant mr. president.

All this Guantanamo Bay fear is GARBAGE.

The only reason Guantanamo Bay still stands is because of fear.

Senators are AFRAID that if they vote to get rid of Gitmo they won't be reelected.

People are AFRAID that if there are suspected terrorists living X amount of miles away, it's going to kill us all.

The only thing we should be afraid of is compromising our beliefs in justice as a country. And that is happening at Guantanamo Bay.

Sure, there's a reason that Guantanamo Bay went up, and I'm just as worried about a terrorist attack as the next person.

What worries me more is that people are blatantly disregarding the Geneva Conventions. The Geneva Conventions have been called the "core of international humanitarian law" and dictate how POWs and enemy combantants in all countries should be treated. One of the stipulations in the Geneva Convention regards the due process of the law, and how prisoners of war need to receive due process, regardless of which country they are from.

We all know what due process is...right?

This is partly because Guantanamo Bay has not been a cite to just "emove alleged combatants from battle or prosecute a particular individual for war crimes", but to also "interrogate" (http://www.cdi.org/news/law/gtmo-sct-decision.cfm).

After 9/11, everyone's vulnerable, to say the least... what better time to start sneaking in human rights violations! In the case Rasul v. Bush, the legality of Gitmo was contested. Rasul was one of the 640 people detained at Gitmo after the 9/11 terrorists attacks. Rasul argued against the legality of Gitmo, saying the detainees were not being given their full rights...

Rasul was repatriated and sent back to Great Britain...

A man detained at Guantanamo Bay was sent home after going to court...

A "terrorist" in Guantanamo Bay wasn't actually a terrorist...

Huh?

The terrorists in Gitmo are enemy combatant fighting a war in another country... OUR LAW IN THE USA DOSE NOT APPLY TO THEM! Only the international laws "Geneva Convention" can and sould be used in their prossicution with international courts and international laywers. Gitmo has both these types of courts and lawyers. I am not affraid of terrorists being imprissioned near me, i just dont think our national law applys to them being that they didnt commit a crime in our country! We didnt send nazi POWs to our U.S. civilian courts after WWII, we set up the Nuremburg Trials. So how come the terrorists are different? They are combatatnts fighting in a war too.

huh?
