End of 2008 Hodge Podge Edition:

(PICK A QUESTION, OR ANSWER ALL OF THEM. HAVE FUN!)

What do you think about the possibility of a Senator Al Franken?

Caroline Kennedy, Andrew Cuomo, or somebody else for NY Senator; who is your choice?

Are there too many familial dynasties in American politics, or is it just about name recognition (Kennedy, Cuomo, Clinton, Bush, Salazar, Sununu and the several members of congress who hold their husbands' former seats)?

Deep Throat has died at 95. What an important person in the history of our government working properly (and a symbol of how others tried to stop it from working).

"I will fight...I will fight...I will fight." Governor Blagojevich (almost didn't include this because I had to look up how to spell his name).

What are you looking forward to in government and politics for 2009?

I think that there should be some form of a limit on it. Like no more after the 2nd person. In a way, the same thing goes on with contests where you can't be an immediate family member to win. The last thing we need is Jeb Bush to be president.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with Obama's presidency. I want to see if he can rreally change things and actually fix the economy. 2008 wasn't exactly the greatest year in the history of America so hopefully 2009 is at least a little better because i know change takes a while in the government.

In 2009 I'm looking forward to Obama's presidency. He is a fresh new face with new ideas and plans. He also has picked his cabinet faster than any other president and has made many solid choices. I am excited to see the finished product in January and hopefully after some time and even maybe at the end of 2009 we will see a rebound in the economy.

What im excited for....to see what kind of dog the Obama's get!!! JOKEING!

I really want to see how Obama is going to stimulate the economy, quickly and in the long run. I also love the globel warming guy being picked by obama to work with them. I think it will also be great to hear/see the "best damn band in the land" The Ohio State marching band play on Jan.20th.

I think that family dyasties shouldn't be an issue to cause a fuss about. Yes, their name is more known, but the individual person is being eleceted not the name. Look at how different Hilary is compared to Bill. They share a common name and party, but they don't have the exact same opinion on every single issue. The name may help a certain candidate but it doesn't secure a victory, look at '08.

I am looking forward to see how Obama can get this economy going. Without a major change in the economy I'm in big trouble with my career. Help us Obama.

PS. maybe a cold day tomorrow

I am interested in seeing how
Obama will lead the country in 2009. I want to see also what he will do about our failing economy and how he will bring change to our nation and its government.

Like everyone above me has said, I am looking forward to seeing how Obama carries out his presidency and if he is able to uphold his promises. It should be interesting to see how the new administration turns out and if they will be able to turn things around. The economy isn't going to be a quick fix but I am hoping that Obama will be able to stimulate the economy before it gets significantly worse.

Familial Dynasties?

Well, unlike Kyle, I don't think there needs to be a limit put on the dynasties in politics. I think if the person running is who the people want, then they should have him/her regardless of thier family members that have been/are in politics.
I think name recongnition has a lot to do with it as well. But using an incumbents name to help gain votes has been a long tradition in poliitcs. Even if it might not put the "right" person in office, I really don't see anything wrong about it. Or if their is anything wrong, how the sysetem could change to even the playing field.

In '09 i'm looking forward to a new America. We have a new president and many new faces of political authority. Times are rough, and I anxiously wait to see how these new faces pursue a return to prosperity.

Y'know, I want to see what happens with Gov. Blagojevich. Personally, I think he should be removed for what hes been said to have done. I think IL. really needs to do something about it, I mean he tried to sell an public office. There is one little tidbit I saw on the daily show that made me laugh about the situation though. So far, (If Blago goes to jail) 4 out of 8 of the last IL governors will have been thrown in jail. thats 50%. according to statistics, only 48% of people who commit a murder ar caught and charged. In other words, you have a better chance going to jail as an IL governor than you do if you kill someone. It makes me chuckle...

I cannot wait to see how universal health care works out. I give it 6 months. Good old lower income taxes also will be interesting because how will Obama pay for his litle health care plan? He may lower one tax, income, but he will end up getting the other taxes higher. His brilliant bailout idea will also be paid by who? Sorry that I am a debbie downer but I do not see to much to be happy about, but i am excited to see how he will pull this off and return the 900 billion back to the tax layers amongst several other things. Can't wait, in thenworss of vince, I'm just so excited. :)

Even though I think 2009 will actually be the start of a great turnaround for America...I'm afraid that universal healthcare will crumble and slow the economy's rebound a little bit. I think we'll be fine in the long run but I sure hope Obama doesn't go through with a Universal Healthcare plan.

I think the possibility of having Al Franken as a senator proves that anyone in the United States can be in the United States government. Actually he is unoffically ahead of Coleman by 225votes.(http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/01/as-the-senate-t.html)

I think both Caroline Kennedy and Andrew Cuomo would be good picks for the open senate seat but I prefer Cuomo. He is more qualified than Kennedy since she has never held a public office.

In 09 I'm looking forward to new things. Some things that Obama will do will be right and some will be wrong. We just have to wait and see. I am personally sick of war and sick of Bush. 2009 is a new year, and I look forward to CHANGE.

I couldn't help but comment on Obama's note about the invention of the internet.

Internet creator = Al Gore

who also had something to do with the lock box....

that had absolutely NOTHING to do with John Locke

or the creepy picture.

Look what you'll be able to say in a year's time, kids! Keep learning and enjoy the end of the Bush era.
