This blog is a place for us to give our Analysis and Opinions on important topics related to civics, government and politics.
Analysis is a clinical interpretation of items, issues, ideas, or events and an explanation of their impact on the future (i.e. something you think is going to happen).
Opinion is composed of your reactions, feelings, and beliefs on items, issues, ideas or events (i.e. something you would like to happen). Even though they are your opinions, they should be based in fact.
I think that executive orders, executive agreements, and executive seceracy give the president way too much power. I think that is bad for government to allow the president to do thingss so seceretively. We elected the president because we want him to make the right choices for the nation. If we dont know the choices he is making how do we know if he is any good, or if the choices he is making are legal. Is the choices he is making could get him impeached? If so, how would congress be able to do its job and get him impeached if they dont know what is going on. I think that the executive orders and executive agreements need to be in agreement with the senate to some degree. Right now i think the president is too powerful.
First of all, that was super awkward. Why were they so close? And sorry Andy, but it's actually referred to as the War Powers Act of 1973..but good try. However, I thought that this was a good review because it allowed me to "brush up" on my Executive Branch.
I was pleasantly surprised with how much information I now know about the Executive Branch by studying it just in the past couple of days. I think it is amazing how everything really works with the president, and how much power he really possesses. I couldn’t imagine having that job, because someone would always be critiquing you. I do agree that the president does have (at sometimes) too much power. I think that this is due to the executive orders that he can command. However, I think the president knows his powers and is advised heavily on what he should/or should not do. Overall, I feel that the Executive Branch is a vital aspect to our country and to politics in general.
The executive branch is one of the easiest branches to comprehend, i think. it deals with the president and how the checks and balances work inside the government. i find it very interesting how the executive branch works.
I think that video was a very good summary about the executive branch. Both teachers explain in a simple but also informative style which makes it easy to get the important points. It's very interesting how much power on single person in a country can have. He has checks on his powers but also there are a couple powers which are totally unchecked like the White House staff or the power to command non-ground troops however he wants. I think that's a bit concerning.
I agree with what everyone else is saying in that the president has too much power. It is one thing if his decisions were at least more public, but I think we are kept from too much of what goes on. This video has made me really think about how much power one person has over so many people, and I think it's more than I ever realized because I always thought that checks and balances did more than they may actually do.
I feel that the executive branch is a lot more complex than people give it credit for. I also feel that it is not given nearly enough attention. We always hear about the senate and house, we even hear about supreme court cases more often than the cabinet or VP. I thought this was a great review and it also helps to show just how much power the Executive branch has.
I think that these guys are pretty weird to watch as it seems everyone else does. I would have to agree with Sam on how much I know now compared to the beginning of the year. It felt good to watch this and already know what they were talking about when at the beginning of the year I would have had NO CLUE.
Well, like everyone else said this video actually, surprisingly, taught me a lot about the executive branch. I actually know what they are talking about!! The president seems to have too much power and there is a ton of responsibility put onto one person to make important decisions. It's crazy how the presidency is so secretive and so much is kept from the people. Although the executive branch can be checked, if the information is not know because of the secrecy, how can it be checked? It is kind of scary actually. The president plays a large role in our country and I feel that there is a little bit too much power put into one person's hands. This was really good review if you ask me though!
It seems to me that the executive branch has the largest variety of roles and responsibilities. I agree with many of my classmates who have pointed out earlier that this branch may have too much power especially since it is placed in the hands of one person. It seems like the president has the power to keep decisions he or she makes a secret but at the same time they are placed with a lot of the blame when things go wrong.
I think that this video was a great way to review the executive branch of the government. I feel that it covered all the I'm basic information on the powers of the president. One think i did notice is that the video seemed to talk a lot about how the presidency has become very large and almost to large. It also talked about how the president can get around the checks and balances of the legislative and judicial branch which they seemed to hint as a bad thing.
Executive power has expanded through the use of presidential practice. Executive agreements bypass the ratification power of the Senate but are not mentioned in the Constitution. Now i think I know the executive and legislative branch pretty well but not that much about the judicial branch.
I think that Executive orders and other capabilities are necessary. Although there are checks and balances the President does need to have some sort of power to effectively rule the country.
The executive powers that were given from the constitution make a fair and effective source of government. The responsibilities of this branch should be placed in the hands of one man. This is what makes the president the president. Thats why elections matter. Some decisions need to be made by one man, because simply enough a group of people might not be able to compromise. I think the executive branch is fine and that the powers it has are necessary to run an effective democracy. Responsible voting can bring forth responsible leaders.
juts like everyone else said this was a great review and really helped me brush up on the facts about the executive branch. I also believe that the president has too much power for one person, which was not the framers intent.

This video was a good recap on the executive branch.
