Youtube channel "CitizenU" is good.
"Hip Hughes History" on youtube has some good stuff, but you have to sift through a lot of history to find the government stuff.
Are you going back to your mastery products to learn again from yourself?
For a study break, I recommend watching The West Wing on netflix or youtube.
What else?
This blog is a place for us to give our Analysis and Opinions on important topics related to civics, government and politics. Analysis is a clinical interpretation of items, issues, ideas, or events and an explanation of their impact on the future (i.e. something you think is going to happen). Opinion is composed of your reactions, feelings, and beliefs on items, issues, ideas or events (i.e. something you would like to happen). Even though they are your opinions, they should be based in fact.

I use various quizlet cards to study for the exam. Here is a link to some flashcards with similar vocabulary terms to what we have learned in class-http://quizlet.com/2190758/ap-government-flashcards-flash-cards/
I also use quizlet and often flip the cards around so when I am studying, I memorize both terms rather then remembering words next to each other, randomizing always helps as well.
I mainly use quizlet to study for the exam because it is easy to memorize information on flashcards for me. I also look up past ap gopo tests on google and study those.
Quizlet and study blue are awesome websites to study for a quiz or an exam. Very helpful. There are flashcards and exam study guides that you can build on study blue.
I use multiple resources to study for the AP exam. I have used quizlet because it is an easy tool to memorize information. Also, we were given a book called "Cracking the AP U.S Government and Politics Exam" that I have begun to look through.
I think quizlet is a good resource, but sometimes I feel having physical note cards will require me to right it down, implanting it in my mind. I intend to utilize both of these resources.
quizlet is an awesome resource to use because it keeps everything together. Also, any videos that we have made for mastery products would be great for studying and viewing more of our peers videos.
Here are the benefits or writing notes by hand rather than typing
http://mentalfloss.com/article/33508/4-benefits-writing-hand
Quizlet is a great resource, especially for understanding the basics. I also plan to look over my textbook and past mastery products to help prepare for the test.
I use quizlet a lot to study for the exam because it is an easy way to study vocabulary. The flashcards make it easy to memorize the definitions.
I have already started using quizlet to create notecards with vocabulary and such. I will to continue to study those. I also recently bought Barron's study guide from Barnes and noble so I also will study from that but I also think I could benefit from group study sessions.
I've been using http://apgovt.wikispaces.com/ for some additional information on what we're learning. The class uses the same book we do, so it's nice to see an explanation of the material from another source.
Everytime I google a vocab term, I get a few quizlet links that pop up. I really like to use quizlet to help me remember past units, as well as mastery products.
I am currently reviewing my mastery products, and am looking in the text book to find interesting questions to discuss in class.
I am currently reviewing my mastery products, and am looking in the text book to find interesting questions to discuss in class.
I study for the AP Government test by looking over my past mastery products and looking back at chapters in the textbook. I feel that this helps me the best because I can easily access them and the info it contains I know will possibly be on the AP test.
I've been looking back at my notes and the book, and reorganizing earlier chapters that make more sense now, as we've made more connections. Staring at a computer screen for too long gives me a killer headache, so I don't typically use Quizlet.
I always use quizlet to study vocabulary terms. I also plan on going to barnes and noble and buying a study guide for the AP test so that I can use practice exams from there.
I use quizlet and use the paperback book based off the text book. Quizlet is nice cause it's easy to reference online instead of writing them down and the paperback book for me is easier to understand than the text book. The quizzes in the paperback book are super useful as we'll.
I use quizlet to study a lot of the time. It is great for vocabulary and questions. I also use past mastery products and the text book to review. Also, the review AP paper book is a very help resource.
I use notecards for the vocab and every so often will look over chapters in the book we've learned. I also am going to buy a study book soon.
Like many of my classmates, I find quizlet to be a useful study tool, so I plan on using it to help brush up my vocabulary before the exam. I also think it would be beneficial to buy a practice book to use as a study guide, as well as looking at tests online from years past. Hopefully, this will give me more of an idea of what to expect come May 13th.
I usually study my notes and my book. If something doesn't make sense, or there is vocabulary I need clarifying I ask Mr. Bretzmann. I feel that talking with him is the most helpful way since he gives examples that are applicable to the outside world, making it 'stick in my brain' much more than notecards.
No need to sift through HipHughes, here is the Government playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD5CB52988D815420 There is also a good Constitution for Dummies list https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLi3U-nPPrbS5d-juhFwo3hTBso0gq2sUZ
Much Love,
HipHughes
Mr. Hughes, thanks for your helpful comments and links. Other than my awesome students, it's not often that we get someone famous dropping by our blog. Thanks for all the engaging content you provide. You are really providing an important service for so many students. ~Jason Bretzmann
I use Quizlet to study because it offers many different options for reviewing content.
I use Quizlet and the AP websites to study from. For the Judiciary, I am using quizlet to study. http://quizlet.com/1717047/chapter-8-judicial-branch-vocabulary-flash-cards/
I use my in class notes that I take in my factions as well as the AP test prep book that I have.
I use quizlet because it has worked the best for me. It makes it easier to memorize and understand the words and its easy to use.
I use a lot of different quizlet flashcards not only to help me study for tests in this class, but also to help me to prepare for the AP exam. I also borrowed one of the AP study guides from the classroom that I have been looking for in order to prepare for the exam.
I'm using the flashcards I made for each vocab quiz to review and I'm also looking over my notes from previous chapters.
I enjoy using the textbook for sections that I do not fully understand, and using various resources such as Quizlet for specific terms that I do not have a complete understanding of.
I'm using Quizlet to study the terms and also looking for various tests and quizzes online. Here was one site that had various multiple choice tests for each chapter along with other information. I'm not sure if they use the same textbook as we do, but the content should be the same. http://www.raleighcharterhs.org/faculty/bnewmark/1gopoquizzes.html
To help me study I look back at all my mastery products that I have created and also use quizlet to help me review all of the vocabulary words.
I usually use quizlet to study for most classes including AP Government. I enjoy the test part of it and being able to use it from the definitions and the terms.
I've been using just my book to review bur recently I found a teachers' website that contains many links to different websites, vocabulary, and concise notes sorted by topic. I will probably use this website as a study tool going forward. Here is the link. http://mrfarshtey.net/apgov_exam_review.html
I find the AP government and politics Test Prep Series by Pearson Education is very informative and short and coincides with our text book.
I usually use quizlet to study the vocabulary words but for ask the other stuff I just use the text book, or I google old AP tests and look at those
I use quizlet mostly to review the chapter's important vocab and content. This way helps me memorize the content. I also just type in "AP Government and Politics review" into Google and it comes up with many study options.
To study for the exam I use a variety of things. I think the quizlet flashcards are good to use as a base review, then I like to review my mastery products in order to fully re-master the materials.
I use quizzlet to study vocabulary and I for test and mastery products I use my text book, internet resources, and the AP test prep series. I will also use all these resources to help me study for the AP exam.
I've been using my notes on old chapters as well as old mastery products to review for the AP exam. I have also been using the test prep booklet from class to review the main points of each chapter we have covered so far.
I have been using quizlet which you can find by typing in AP Government and Politics on quizlet. It has a lot of questions we have seen on previous tests. Also there is a lot of vocabulary on quizlet.
I have been using multiple different quizlet flashcards to study for the exam. I also have looked back on some of my mastery products so that I could remember what the first few chapters were about.
I use the 5 Steps to a 5 series to review! The book has quizzes and them full explanations for every answer. I've used the series to study for prior AP tests and they turned out to be very helpful!
Quizlet and the notecards I have from all of our vocabulary quizzes, and I've also gone back to my mastery products and either written more or taken notes on chapters of the text book we've already done. Plus, I've got our class study guide and am looking into getting another study guide for the exam.
Looked at all the links at http://mrfarshtey.net/apgov_exam_review.html
As well as reviewed all my mastry products and make flash cards for the vocab words
I changed my mind, I feel that quizlet is the most useful to me because it can store so many sets at a time and when you make the cards you can also play games and take tests that it creates for you in order to master the information. Before i said I liked creating my own notecards because the process of writing everything out helps me remember the information. However doing so takes a lot more time and does not have the same benefits as quizlet.
I am doing a lot of things to prepare in different ways for the AP exam. I have been using quizlet all year for vocab terms, and since I have heard that that is an important part of the exam, I have been reviewing through that. I also purchased a Princeton Review AP practice book which is just filled with multiple choice questions and I have been doing a few of those questions at a time whenever I find time at night. I plan to go back over all of my mastery products as well to review what I have already learned.
Most of the review that I have been doing has been offline. I have been using flash cards and review books to quiz myself on my knowledge. However, I have been using the internet to review the notes that I have created on google docs, and to review my and my classmates' past mastery products. I have also been using youtube to find information on terms and concepts I am unsure of. Finally, I have been using CNN.com to keep updated with the news and find ways to relate the news to what we have learned in class.
For general knowledge study purposes I tend to prefer flash cards in the form of Quizlet and paper cards. For review specifically targeted for main ideas and minutia reading through other's master products in addition to my own has been helpful. Examining others' take on the content provides the same content phrased in a way as to discourage the evils of skimming.
I use quizlet to study important vocabulary for the exam. I review my mastery products and my textbook, and I also have a Princeton Review study guide from a past student that is very helpful for reviewing for the GoPo exam.
I used some of the ideas posted on this blog post and I really like using old mastery products to study. I already compiled a lot of information on previous chapters through my mastery products, why not use them to study!
Quizlet or other sources of online flashcards seem to work best. Through quizlet I can study the words using flashcards or in a quiz/test format which helps prepare me for the in class vocab quizzes.
Lately I have been studying by reading through different AP study guides that I bought from Barnes and Noble. They are really helpful in showing me what to expect for the exam.
I personally like playing the games on quizlet although the virtual note cards themselves are very helpful. I just find that looking at almost 300 is a little overwhelming. I have also started looking at my past mastery products as well as some of my classmates. I also really really like the AP review books for brief overviews of all the chapters.
ps.... I use playlists on HipHughes... here is the gov playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD5CB52988D815420 There is also a Constitution for Dummies playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLi3U-nPPrbS5d-juhFwo3hTBso0gq2sUZ
