Happy Super Birthday Mr. President! What do you think are the three most significant parts of the Reagan Administration (positive, negative, or both)

The Super Bowl and Politics: According to Chris Matthews, this is America's Super Bowl because it's two teams named after the real working men and women of America: the steelworkers of Pittsburgh and the meat Packers of Green Bay. Politics is everywhere...AND did you know that Packer Charlie "Peprah is the grandson of the former military president of Ghana, general Ignatius Kutu Acheampong. Ruling in a coup d’etat in 1972, Acheampong remained in power until 1977 and was executed in 1979 after a revolution..."

Ronald Reagan in perspective:

First, a positive significant part of the Reagon Administration was "Reaganomics." Because of his economic policies like lowering taxes and spending less, the economy started growing again during his presidency. The two other parts of his Administration I find to be significant are the ending of détente (both negative and positive) and the Iran-Contra affair (definitely a negative looking back on it). In my opinion, ending détente was a poor decision because it increased tensions with the USSR, however it was also a positive choice because our army became stronger, the INF treaty was signed, and the Berlin Wall was eventually torn down leading to the end of the USSR.

Ronald Reagan was a great leader. America believed in him and trusted him. He reduced our country's reliance on government and cut the income tax a great amount reducing the inflation rate greatly. He also played a huge role in the end of the cold war and the destruction of the Soviet Union. Reagan met with Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev and significantly contributed to convincing the Soviet Union to tear down the Berlin Wall. Reagan and Gorbachev signed multiple treaties which limited weapons of mass destruction. The most significant part of the Reagan Administration was fixing America's economic situation that Jimmy Carter led America into. In Reagan's third year in office, America was in the deepest recession since the 1930's. Reagan made many important decisions and led America out of the recession and won his second term in office by a landslide. America loved Ronald Reagan. He is known most for being one of the greatest presidents of all time, following one of the worst presidents of all time. It took us Jimmy Carter to give us Ronald Reagan, who is Barack Obama going to give us?

Ronald Reagan was a great president. His policies got us out of a deep recession and the unemployment rate was lowered while he was in office. To get people back in work, President Reagan cut taxes so that private businesses had more money. He placed more control in the suppliers of teh goods whcih was called "Supply Side Economics"Since the economy was so strong in 1984 it helped President Reagan easily win the re-election. He also helped to end the cold war which is very important because the cold war could have been very destructive had tensions grown between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

Whether hated or loved, President Ronald Reagan left a lasting impact on the country even after his passing. The first significant aspect of his administration was his speech in Berlin in 1987 to "take down this wall!" This was an extremely powerful speech that had a noted part in ending communism and reuniting a divided Germany. It was a very positive aspect. Another aspect, although very negative, was his ignorance and avoidance to the AIDS epidemic. President Reagan appeared uncaring and apathetic to the rising issue even as one of his friends succumbed to the disease, and protests broke out throughout the country. This is one of the aspects that remain a very heated issue today. Finally, a very positive aspect of his administration was his nomination of Sandra Day O’Connor to the Supreme Court of the United States. She became the first woman to sit on the Supreme bench, and this was a significant milestone in America’s political and cultural history. It is safe to say that Ronald Reagan will live on in this country long after his hundredth birthday!

In my opinion,President Reagan was one of the most influential and significant presidents, ever. The three most important parts to his administration would have to be included in his "reaganomics": which included the creation of about 17 million jobs to help stimulate the economy. Another major accomplishment would be with the Soviet Union, and his ability to act peacefully with them.

The three most significant parts of the Reagan Administration (in no particular order) were:
1.The tearing down of the Berlin Wall, and later the dissolvement of the Soviet Union
2. "Reaganomics," which reduced the inflation rate and kept the unemployment rate under 10%
3.The war on drugs, which cost a significant amount of money to implement with an insignificant effect. However, it did reduce adolescent drug use.

I think his most influential acts as president were Reganomics as well as the destruction of the Berlin wall. Reganomics created 17 million jobs in order to stimulate the economy. The Berlin wall coming down was good and helped with the disolvement of the Soviet Union.

Ronald Reagan was an influential president. He had many positive actions that have had a lasting effect on our country's success. The first major accomplishment was the successful action against communist USSR. The bringing down of the Berlin wall was a huge accomplishment. The more obvious accomplishment is Reaganomics, which was responsible for lowering taxes and helping to eliminate wasteful spending by the federal government. The final major accomplishment for Reagan would have to be, during his administration the Cold War ended. The Cold War ending was a great day for not only the U.S. but the entire war. The reduce risk of nuclear warfare brought happy times to the world for a brief time.

One of the most important events during the Reagan Administration was the tearing down of the Berlin Wall. This action was instrumental in opening new possibilities for freedom and commerce and foreign relations.
Another significant part of Reagan's presidency was his actions in turning a recession into a prosperous time.
However, I think that Reagan is viewed in a light that discourages critique. Personally, I think that there were some negative parts of his Administration as well. The Iran-Contra affair and dealings with Iraq led the U.S. into entangling relationships with various nations.
Reagan's admirable goals of lowering taxes while bolstering defense was popular at the time and still today. However, the policy resulted in a tripling of the national debt.

Three decisions that are most important/relevant.
1)Reaganomics
2) Destruction of Berlin Wall
3) Nominating Sandra Day O'Connor as Supreme Court justice.

I would expand, but frankly for the time being government and politics has taken a backseat to the Green Bay Packers. Super Bowl Champs!

Also. Gabe, did you seriously just post during the Super Bowl? Unacceptable.

The Reagan administration was one of the most promising presidential administrations in American history. First of all, "Reaganomics" helped to galvanize the economy after the stalemated 70's. The conservative, laissez-faire style of economics (including tax cuts and well-thought out budget planning) gave a resurgence to the American economy. Secondly, Reagan masterfully helped bring upon the end of the Cold War. Through brilliant negotiations and foreign policy, the president was able to bring the US and USSR to peace. Lastly, the most significant thing about the Reagan administration was the resurgence of conservatism that it brought upon American politics. He is a legendary conservative and his ways are still idolized by conservatives. Happy birthday Mr. President!

I (and several others it seems) believe that one very significant part of the Reagan Administration was Reaganomics. I personally think that his choices during the economic downturn were great for that time. Also in my opinion the Berlin Wall was almost childish and if we put up a wall on the Canadian border or something I think I would laugh, so bringing down the Berlin Wall was a great accomplishment. Lastly, I think his great and commanding leadership in general was very significant. Few people have that natural sheperd's leadership that few people question and most just follow.

What I believe to be the three most significant parts of the Reagan Administration:
1. Aiding to tear down the Berlin Wall.
2. "Reaganomics" which decreased government spending and helped get the economy going again.
3. Nomination of Sandra Day O'Connor as a Supreme Court Justice (no relations).

1) Reaganomics- reduced government programs and some of the largest across-the-board tax cuts in American history
2) appointment of Sandra Day O'Connor- first woman in the Supreme court
3) foreign policy- strategy of "peace through strength" that resulted in a warming of relations with the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War (fall of the Berlin Wall)

Reaganomics was probably the most significant part of the Reagan administration. A close second would probably be the talks with the Soviet Union that eventually resulted in the Berlin Wall being torn down. The last significant part of the Reagan Administration was appointing Sandra Day O'Connor to the supreme court.

I believe that three of the most significant parts of the Reagan Administration are (1) appointing Sandra Day O'Connor to the Supreme Court, being the first president to appoint a woman, (2) the Iran-Conta Affair in which the Reagan Administration supplied Iran with weapons in exchange for releasing American hostages, and (3) "Reaganomics". If you want a definition of this, there is probably a long one in another student's post.

President Reagan was a good president and I learned much about him in the book I read over the summer. I feel that the most Reagan is really know for his help to the American economy because he help turn a downward economy into a successful one. He did this by lowering income taxes which let people have more money to spend. Another very important issue that Reagan resolved was the cold war. He was able to sign treaties with the USSR leader (Gorbachev). Finally he also nominated Sandra de O’Connor to the supreme court. She had help decide many great supreme court cases. Ronald Reagan was a great president and has really helped turn our country around.

One significant part of the Reagan Administration was the economic initiative called “Reaganomics”. Reaganomics reduced government spending, reduced tax rates, and controlled the money supply to reduce inflation. Reagan also eased tensions with the USSR and ended the Cold War through the help of treaties such as the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. Reagan also fought labor unions such as Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization and fired 11,345 when they refused to return back to work and end their strike.

1) He prevented a third world war by signing treaties to limit the amount of weapons of mass destruction.
2)Tearing down the wall and dissolving the Soviet Union.
3)His economic policies. "Reaganomics" worked really well, creating 17 million jobs. This was much more effective than our current president's recent attempts to create jobs, and much less costly! Carter gave us one of the greatest presidents of all time, history may repeat itself in 2012.

Some of the Reagan Administration's most significant actions are as follows:
1: The policy of Reagonomics, which intended to lower government spending, reduce taxes, reduce government regulation, and reduce inflation.
2: Reagan had influence over the tearing down of the Berlin Wall and also aided in the end of the Cold War
3: The poor treatment of the Iran-Contra affair during the 80's, which in some eyes tarnished Reagan's image.

Democrat or Republican it can pretty easily be said that Ronald Reagan was one of the most loved presidents. In his two terms he served the American people well and a lot of the things he did are still talked about today. First off being "Reaganomics", he pulled together a nation struggling financially. By lowering taxes and spending less the economy started to rise once again. The second being his involvement with the berlin wall, and the taking down of it. The third, helping solve some of the problems going back and forth between the US and USSR at the time.

A very significant part of the Reagan Administration was the falling of the Berlin Wall, which President Reagan took credit for. His economic policies stimulated the economy and created 17 million jobs and cut african american employment in half. Another one of his accomplishments was the complete refurbishing and strengthening of our military. Whether you believe how he came about these accomplishments are good or bad routes to go about something, he still did some great things for our country.

Wether he was positive or negative it is certain that president Ronald Reagan left some sort of impact on America and American politics. First of all a major postive infulence that he had was his "say no to drugs" campaign which had a large impact of influencing many youths to stay away from drugs. His campaign was was a huge success by offering teenagers different options of saying no. Secondly this postive event led to other campaigns such as groups against violence and premarital sex. Thirdly another positive event was called "Reaganomics" which reduced the inflation rate and kept the unemployment rate under 10% and many Americans were satisfied with his hard work.

3 most significant parts of the Reagan Administration:
1) Reaganomics - lowered taxes to benifit the growth of small businesses and greatly decreased the unemployment rate. A largely positive program.

2) Iran-Contra affair - foreign affairs disaster, led to high oil prices and economic scare. Negative

3) Fall of the Soviet Union - The Reagan administration was a large part in this event, helping to rid Berlin of the Berlin wall and to end the cold war. A huge positive for the administration.

One of Reagan's policies, known as Reaganomics, was highly significant because it stimulated the struggling economy and promoted job growth through lower taxes.
Another significant event that occurred during his administration was the appointing of Sandra Day O'Connor to the Supreme Court. Upon receiving her law degree in the 1950's with high remarks, no California law firm would hire her because she was a women. By appointing her to the Supreme Court 30 years later, Reagan not only showed how far her own accomplishments took her but how far women's rights had come.
The third and probably most important event during the Reagan Administration was the tearing down of the Berlin wall and helping to end the communist threat in Eastern Europe. with the threat reduced, the Cold War was able to come to and end and the governments of these previous communist countries began to change.
