Hey GOPO gang I know its coming down to deadlines here but i just wanted to let you know i may not be there on monday to help out. last week wednesday I had a lung partially collapse and its hard for me to do even menial tasks because of it. so If I'm up to it, Ill be there but I cant make any promises.
Thanks,
-Erik K.
Whats the deal with the fliers? We really need to get those up because other than the announcements (in which only a minority of the student body reads) and word of mouth, not many people now about the mock election. Fliers need to go up by all the candidate's posters. I hear a lot of people commenting on those posters so if we put the fliers by them people will defiantly know whats happening.
Kyle, I can put up fliers if the person who made them gets them to me. I don't remember who signed up for that at the moment, or if they were going to put them up, or if someone already volunteered to do that...
I have fliers that were e-mailed to me that I printed on Friday. I don't have blue painters tape though and the stores are already closed (this is the tape we're supposed to use on the walls). If anybody has any that they could bring with them to use on Monday, that would be great. If you can drop it off before first hour, I can have my first hour students work on putting up fliers.
Erik K. GET WELL SOON!
I just wanted to say that this mockelection is really coming along nicely...At my lunch table that was the majority of the talk for the last 3 days...Its becoming the talk of the school and i just wanted to say keep up the good work everybody.
UPDATE: doctor cleared me for school. i will be at school 2mrw. i may have some painters tape here; i will try to remember to bring it.
I've heard a lot of people talk about the election too but most of the people excited about it are either Seniors or Juniors. The fliers should help get the word out so we will have a good mix of voters on our election day.
I agree with Addie my sister is a sophomore and has a slight idea of what we are doing. We need to get the young people involved, kind of like the real race. Maybe we could get some more fliers out or announcements directed toward the under classmen.
I contacted 3 people and none have gotten back to me so far. All the research is done. And the ballets are set.
So i got an e-mail from Dan Vrakas's office the other day stating our Waukeshau county executive was not interested in coming in to speak with us, so there goes a vote for him in 2010. As far as the mock election goes, I just want to tell you all good luck. We're all counting on you. "Airplane!" line. Anyone? Anyone?
Alright, once again, I'm offering up my services. If anyone needs any help with anything, just let me know. Oh, and if you need someone to put up fliers, I'd be more than happy to do that.
People at my lunch table are pretty excited for this mock election, even the freshmen. One tip for getting freshmen interested: walk down freshman hall and talk about it really loudly with a friend. When I did this, I got a bunch of people asking me about it.
Herb Kohl is the only person to get back to me so far and he will not be attending....what a shame....but thats ok we still have two people left that might come.
Have a great weekend all
Ballot boxes will be in Mr. Bretzmann's room by 1st hour on Monday morning, ready for votes to be placed in them. Matt Curry, I'm pretty sure you were supposed to get this memo...
For Matt C. a former Ron P. supporter:
Ron Paul Could Be a Spoiler in Montana
Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) is on the ballot in Montana on the Constitution Party line and could play the role of a spoiler. Although Paul has not campaigned in the state, he is popular in this libertarian state and could draw votes away from John McCain here. Recent polls have shown Montana to be close, so Paul might tip the state's three electoral votes to Barack Obama.
Ha, yeah I saw that Mr. Bretzmann, and I know Montana has a bit of a rebellious streak to them; perfect for the libertarian ideology. Montana is amazingly a very close race now. I'm pretty happy that even though Ron Paul isn't running for president, at least he can, without his even knowledge, play a role in the election. Don't count me out as a Paul supporter, not at all. I'm still at heart a Libertarian and if it weren't for the crapiness of Bob Barr I'd be voting Libertarian. RON PAUL 2012 #@!! YEAH!
P.S. - Ron Paul wins on the economy
P.P.S - as the ballot dude, am I printing out all of the ballots? Design has been finished, but as far as I know they haven't been printed out yet.
BALLOTS:
We don't have copies of the ballots and the election is tomorrow. It takes 3 days to make copies at school, so Matt C. you'll have to figure out a way to get the copies yourself. I thought you had the copies taken care of last week ??? Let me know what the status is ASAP!
Oh don't worry Mr. B I'm already printing them and cutting them out. The ballot copies are taken care of.
