This blog is a place for us to give our Analysis and Opinions on important topics related to civics, government and politics.
Analysis is a clinical interpretation of items, issues, ideas, or events and an explanation of their impact on the future (i.e. something you think is going to happen).
Opinion is composed of your reactions, feelings, and beliefs on items, issues, ideas or events (i.e. something you would like to happen). Even though they are your opinions, they should be based in fact.
So the caucus in WV starts out with Romney in the lead in the first round. McCain tells his caucus goers to go over to second place Huckabee. Huckabee gets enough to win WV. What a political start to the night!
Only five o'clock and already a story. Since Romney was leading in W. Virginia and it's a winner-take-all, McCain told all of his delegates to go over to Huckabee so that Romney wouldn't get any delegates. Oh McCain. Going to La Estacion tonight to watch Super Tuesday results and hoping I don't get snowed in... Cross your fingers.
Ooops. Sorry about that. It's snowing. You beat me to that one!
Dobson says he can't vote for McCain because he's not conservative enough. Limbaugh says he would rather have Clinton win than McCain so conservative Congressmen and women don't have to vote with McCain on legislation out of party loyalty.
Definately don't do any homework. Blame it on your teachers and Dr. Bussen for telling everyone it would be a snow day if it isn't. Super Tuesday coverage trumps math homework.
By Anne E. Kornblut No need to wait for Clinton surrogates to start talking on television after the polls close. The Hillary Clinton campaign helpfully e-mailed out its talking points just before 7:30 p.m.:
1. "We're excited by what we're seeing." 2. "We have 21 states that are still outstanding where we expect to pick up a significant number of new delegates." 3. "To be sure, both campaigns have a long night ahead of them -- but we feel very good about the numbers that we're seeing." 4. "It's very important that people in the states where the polls are still open get out and vote."
And for anyone seeking to spin the Georgia defeat:
1."Unlike the Obama campaign, the Clinton campaign never dedicated significant resources to Georgia." 2. "Sen. Obama spent over $500,000 dollars on ads on television and radio; we never went up on TV." 3. "The Obama campaign has 9 offices in Georgia. The Clinton campaign only has 2." 4. "Sen. Obama has had staff and significant campaign operation across the state for 8 months. Sen. Clinton only deployed staff to the state in the last couple of weeks." 5. "Polls have consistently showed Sen. Obama with wide lead over Sen Clinton. That lead has only widened over time."
well to inform everyone DO NOT GET DIRECT TV or pray to not have a huge snow storm on the day of returns.... (my tv is out) I've been sitting on this couch for the past five days... and now my tv is out.
Check out www.msnbc.com Sometimes they webcast their shows about elections Sorry about the TV. Hopefully we don't all have to resort to reading books and talking to each other.
I didn't think Huckabay would be in the position that he is now. I thought he would be getting close to Paul's %. But he's doing better than I had expected him to. My predictions for New York and Illinois were correct. But whose weren't.
Isn't it interesting to see what Huckabee is doing. An anti-McCain vote may have gone for Huckabee. An anti-Romney vote may have gone for Huckabee. VP Norris?
Well, Katie K and myself are here having a Super Tuesday party (seriously, I'm not even kidding), and we can't figure out what exactly a superdelegate is and how a candidate wins one, especially when he/she does not win the state.
On the Democratic side they call them Super Delegates. On the GOP side they have something similar, but don't call them that.
Super Delegates are Democratic Congressmen and women, Senators, Governors, and big whigs in the party (e.g. Bill Clinton, Donna Brazile, etc.) They get to vote as delegates for whomever they want to and can decide whenever they want to that they are supporting somebody. They don't have to vote how the people in their state do, but some do (CA Sen. Boxer has pledged to vote how her state votes). They used to tend to wait until later in the process to announce their allegiance, but because of Clinton's longevity in the party she shored up the party leaders early on. So she has more Super Delegates.
I don't have any research to back this up, but I heard someone awhile ago say that the reason the Dems have Super Delegates is because of Jesse Jackson.
After Jackson ran and was successful for a little while, the party leaders apparently got nervous and decided they needed some way to make sure that the rank and file didn't mess things up and select someone who could not win in Nov. (remember this was '84 and '88, not 2007). Almost an Electoral College argument that we can't trust the people.
What if Obama wins more "Pledged Delegates" (that's what they call the ones you win when you win in a state) and then the Super Delegates stay with Clinton and hand her the nomination?
Can i be upset with Amanda K that she didn't invite me to the Super Tuesday party like she said she would? I think so.
Tonight has proved to be interesting with the Super Tuesday madness, I love it.
But the REAL question is- when are they going to let us know that we do in fact have a snow day tomorrow? I think they might as well let us know now, but who are they kidding... 16 inches of snow never got in my way of getting to school. :-)
So I'm not really sure if anyone just listened to Hillary's speech but I enjoyed this... During her rant about what Republicans want compared to what Democrats do, she said they want to tax the weathly more blah, blah, blah, and increase the deficit. Then she brought up universal health care...
It was an interesting speech. She brought up some new ideas and started her focus on the other side. That's kind of new.
She gave the speech just in time to be on the 10:00 news central time and 11:00 news on the east coast. She had to quiet the crowd down so she could get her ten minute speech completed by the time the news started.
"We are more than a collection of Red and Blue states, we are and always will be the United States of America" okay so that isn't a direct quote because I wasn't actively listening.
Edwards has 10% of the vote for California. Why is this? He dropped out. It's unfortunate because I believe that those votes if not for Edward, would go more towards Obama.
Can anyone tell me why he is still being voted for?
Just kidding. I don't support Clinton. I too support Obama, just not as with much passion because my original candidate, Bill Richardson, dropped out of the race.
Bill Richardson is sporting a beard now. Interesting look. In addtion to Alex's comments about the exit polls in CA, add that 54% of the turnout was women. Also not good for Obama. (If the ballots were already printed, Edwards's name would still be on them in CA).
"We will reward them for their greatness with better pay and more support." Obama speaking about teachers.
Alex- I know California has a lot of delegates, but there are other states and they do count as well. It is most certainly not "game over." Especially with only 14% of the vote in.
Sorry I missed the party at Alex's house. Tom B. and I were in a convoy driving around all night looking for the Fred Thompson party. I guess he never got around to organizing it.
Even if Obama doesn't win CA (which could still happen) he has won more states and the pledged delegates could turn out to be almost a tie. Because it's proportional everywhere, all Obama needs to do in California is keep it close. It would be much better for him to win it, but he has enough of a cushion everywhere else.
Plus, he has $32 million that he raised in January compared to Clinton's $13. And the next states favor Obama.
Plus, I think Romney's gonna' stay in it long enough to make coming to MHS an option. Still may not happen, but now it's an option for them. Stay tuned!
I still think Obama has a great shot after super tuesday. Lots of people are still going off of the name "Clinton" and reliving nostalgia of days without the largest deficit in history and a never-ending war. Nonetheless--people are starting to notice Obama. Even if you don't like Obama you have to admit he makes a hell of a speech. Plus i've noticed people don't hate Obama like some people hate Hillary (even though it's pretty obvious I tested it out). When I was doing phone calls for Obama this Sunday I decided to mention Hillary's name a few times and I a lot of angry responses. People would generally hear me out when I only mentioned Obama's name. I even had a lot of Republicans say they're rooting for him and would probably vote for him in the general election. So--Obama, still a great shot. Hillary--still has to worry about the huge number of people in the ABC* club.
1. I'll not be a comedian. Too much standing. 2. I'm going to go to bed now because we have not won the weather.com primary. School bright and early tomorrow. 3. I didn't have popcorn. I had chili... and be##.
http://youdecide08.foxnews.com/missouri/ FOX declared Hillary the winner of Missouri. She was 8% ahead w/ 92% in. Now shes behind by .5%. Shes still declared the winner when shes behind on the website itself.
If there is school tomorrow--well, lets just say i just drank 24 oz. of coffee two minutes ago and haven't done any homework. Time for me to check weather.com
Turn your pajamas inside out. I don't know if anyone else noticed this but does it seem like the liberals got wayy more attention than the conservatives tonight? Not just in this blog but on CNN and NBC and MSN?
"EXPECTED SNOWFALL TOTALS BY LATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON WILL RANGE FROM... 6 TO 8 INCHES IN THE MONTELLO AND WISCONSIN DELLS AREAS...TO BETWEEN 12 AND 18 INCHES FROM MONROE TO MILWAUKEE...JEFFERSON... RACINE... KENOSHA...WEST BEND AND PORT WASHINGTON. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS STILL EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE MILWAUKEE...ELKHORN...WAUKESHA... RACINE AND KENOSHA AREAS. "
Will they have school tomorrow if it is likely to get so bad tomorrow while we are in school?
Well lets face it, if Bussen doesn't cancel school tomorrow then he's just contradicting himself. There's no way i'm going to school tomorrow off of 4 hours of sleep and no homework done.
2)The principal practically told people to sleep in.
3)Although it says 2-4, if you look at the details it has many not-so-good things. I really hope they look at safety. Not just about having to make up a school day.
Who has Dr. Bussen's address? Maybe we could all gather together, and make a huge snow fort in front of Dr. Bussen's windows. That way, when he wakes up tomorrow morning...he'll be like, WOW! THERE IS A TON OF SNOW. NO SCHOOL! How great would THAT be. He did practically tell everyone to sleep in. I hope he doesn't let us down :-(
In a semi-open primary all the voters can vote in any one primary, but they have to publicly declare which primary they're going to vote in before they enter the voting booth
Jamie if you're down for getting up right now off your computer chair, bundling yourself against the cold, hunting down Bussen, and treking snow across his yard, then more power to you. But I think I'm going to sit this one out.
Yeah, back when Dr. Rammer used to be my neighbor I debated the same plan. I never followed through though. It involves far too much work for me to be the least bit interested.
I probably would have just done all windows eliminating any need for peeking. I wonder why we can't post on this blog at school. Maybe because we are talking about looking into Dr. Bussen's windows? haha
We REALLY wouldn't get anything done if I talked more. Sometimes it is just better for me to sit and say something. I think if we DO have school tomorrow, AP Gov would be best spent taking naps. Considering all of us are actively participating in the blog instead of sleeping, nap time would be nice.
Hm. I didn't know that pj thing. I'm not too superstitious though. My sweatpants are not going to change the weather. Hypothetically speaking, I think I'd rather talk about this in class than sleep. That is what we're all doing right now after all.
I could spend a full hour every single day talking about politics. I really could. Mr. Bretzmann is lucky, his whole day can be related to politics. :P
Wow. Impressive. I haven't so let's just stick to the norms. I'm counting on you though to bring us a snow day. I think it just might be time to start my homework. See you guys on Thursday. :)
Ok so for california. Obama gets white men. Clinton gets white women. Blacks go for Obama. Asians go for Clinton. Deciding factor? Latinos (make up 30% of the state's population). Polls say clinton got the latino vote 2 to 1. Clinton--una chica caliente. Ay ay ay.
Omg so I'm really shocked about the whole Clinton winning in a bunch of states. I was listening in on the way home from the concert. I really hope that hillary "choking" up again did not get people to see her as a "human" again.. I was really beating on obama tonight. I also hope that Romney does not drop out. I will be sad =( that is all I have to say at the moment. I'm going to bed. Good night.
Yes I know I should be in bed. But since we have super tuesday music. I found a song for you to check out. Its free on itunes, and im putting it on a cd for you (bretzmann). "I'm Eighteen" by Sean Kingston. It's about voting.
Ok like 5 of you have already asked what super delegates are. SO. here it is. In 1982 democratic party leaders gave themselves a huge portion of delegates and they called them superdelegates. So every democratic member of congress, democratic gov., and all elected memebers of the DNC are each granted a vote at the convention. The party leaders did this to gain some control over the process (and get some political favors for backing the right candidate at the convention). So now its 2008, and there are i think about 800 or so superdelegates (this makes up about 20% of the whole convention).
Now--why super delegates are such a huge deal this year: Since we have no front-runner, and the time frame of the election is so short (preventing any candidate from gaining enough momentum), no candidate may have enough delegates by convention time. Thus, super delegates can change their vote at any time at the convention and the democratic candidate for president may be decided on the convention floor. Now wouldn't that be exciting?
Below is what I said on Jan. 19. I don't want to gloat, but I think I have to. Pretty much everything below is happening. I am not as successful in telling the future when it comes to the weather.
1-19-08 Maybe the Obama camp is planning ahead for Feb.5 Here's the thought process: If Clinton wins the two biggest states of CA and NY and wins the most delegates, but Obama wins the most states throughout the Midwest and the West, maybe 15 of the 22 states (according to MSNBC's Chuck Todd), he could claim that as a victory. However, if he's harping on the fact that the delegate count is most important, Clinton can come back and say, "Barack, last month you said it was delegates that count the most, not the popular vote/number of states."
So, Feb. 6 Obama says, "Congratulations to Hillary for winning the most delegates, but we're happy we won the most states in a cross-section of the country in the rural areas and the cities and the suburbs. This shows we have what we will need to win in the general election: a broad-based support throughout the country."
I read every last post. Snow Day or not, we're still having AP Gov class, just online. I like it, I like it a lot.
Clinton 783 Obama 709
Sigh...She won more delegates, but he won more states. And with that $32 million raised from January... Fingers crossed. This weekend looks like it may be a boost for Obama -- Louisiana, Washington, and Maine all seem to be three more states he can put under his belt this weekend.
And to continue where Joanna left off: Storm death toll now up to 48. Jeez...
What a great observation except for Alex. I also noticed last night that we can edit our profile to have pictures and bio info. We could start a new social-networking revolution.
I don't think there is much left to be said. Since welll there are 128 comments. Yeahhh. Crazy people. Going back to my nap now. :) Since there is nothing better to do outside. This weather is insane. I think, since we are seniors, we should not have to make up this extra day. Yeahhhh
'Mitt Romney suspended his faltering presidential campaign on Thursday, effectively sealing the Republican presidential nomination for John McCain. "I must now stand aside, for our party and our country," Romney told conservatives.' Yahoo News Holy guacamole. I wasn't expecting that.
1. "Sorry I missed the party at Alex's house. Tom B. and I were in a convoy driving around all night looking for the Fred Thompson party. I guess he never got around to organizing it." -Mr. Bretzmann
That's funny because Tom really never goes on here and will never see this.
2. It's a little, no, extremely funny that 6th hour appears to work pretty much exactly as 7th hour does. ADD all over the place, some gov & politics mixed in, and a lot of funny comments. And probably little progress with slideshows if I had to guess.
3. You now have 131 posts... and you can brag about it again tomorrow.

Brilliant.
Poor Romney, not.
Correction: WV was a GOP Convention, not a caucus. There is a small difference.
GA goes to Obama. He needed to win here for the night to go well for him.
GA can't be called for anybody yet on the GOP side. Will Romney do unexpectedly well tonight?
"The tornado watch continues in western Tennessee. The poor weather bodes badly for Sen. Barack Obama, who needs to do well in Memphis.
Sen. Hillary Clinton has polled well in other parts of the state."

Sucka' got served...
Would I be a fool to not do my homework and just watch the coverage. I would like to know what my peers are doing.
Don't do your AP Government homework. Do all your other homework. Watch www.weather.com !
Definately don't do any homework. Blame it on your teachers and Dr. Bussen for telling everyone it would be a snow day if it isn't.

Yeah they were pretty rowdy. That was nuts. I'm excited for California results. I predict Obama.
(Less old people in many parts of California)
So actually, I guess I WANT Obama to win California. Looks like it's not in his favor right now. 57% to 33% but only 2% of votes submitted...
okay... we are having a family debate over here, and we can not find data to back my fathers numbers.
These are the military personal dealth totals.
George W. Bush ... 5187 (2001-2004)
Bill Clinton . . . . 4302 (1993-1996)
During the Clinton period my dad says there was no war or anything. Do you have any idea how his military dealth totals were so high?
Shannon and I have been talking for a little bit about today. You're welcome for showing you the statistics from CNN.com Shannon. ;]
But of course everybody should see that so here is the direct link to the California page.
California
Hillary 53%
Obama 35%
TOTAL IN: 2%
By far it's too early to tell, but I really hope Obama gets this.
This is kind of an adrenaline rush. It's like watching sports with the little ticker at the bottom. Am I a really big nerd for saying that?
You're a politics nerd. The best kind there is.
On a side note, 10% total in and Obama is still down 22%. The polls say it's close... they better not be wrong AGAIN.
"you know I love you back"
Barack Obama
I think that most definitely made my night. It's like he's speaking at the Grammys or something.
Ooh ooh.
"We are more than a collection of Red and Blue states, we are and always will be the United States of America" okay so that isn't a direct quote because I wasn't actively listening.
But he is soooo right, I love it.
I just noticed this.
"Edwards
93,697
10%"
Edwards has 10% of the vote for California. Why is this? He dropped out. It's unfortunate because I believe that those votes if not for Edward, would go more towards Obama.
Can anyone tell me why he is still being voted for?
Just kidding. I don't support Clinton. I too support Obama, just not as with much passion because my original candidate, Bill Richardson, dropped out of the race.
Vlad, you just made my night.
I just saw the Edwards thing too.
Interesting.
Missouri is a close one.
New York was closer than I thought it would be.
Well California has the Latino vote, and Hilary is more popular among that group than Barack is.
Hilary and Barack seem even on paper but New York, California, and MA have so many more delegates..
Prediction: hilary wins california.
But--it's not over yet.
If obama would have got california i would have put my foot in my mouth but The HIll got it...
I think it is pretty much game over, sorry
but think on the bright side, how America will not have to deal with a first term senator playing make believe president...
Bill Richardson is sporting a beard now. Interesting look. In addtion to Alex's comments about the exit polls in CA, add that 54% of the turnout was women. Also not good for Obama. (If the ballots were already printed, Edwards's name would still be on them in CA).
"We will reward them for their greatness with better pay and more support." Obama speaking about teachers.
romney looked allright, if it wouldn't have been for the @$##$@# Huckabee,
but the moral of the story is that he vowed to continue the race all the way to the convention, so it looks like he could come to muskego after all
and you guys, you really left me hanging on the conservative super tuesday party at my house, not much of a showing... :(
Alex- I know California has a lot of delegates, but there are other states and they do count as well. It is most certainly not "game over." Especially with only 14% of the vote in.
I'm glad you didn't invite me Alex.
All these Super Duper Tuesday parties, and not one invite.
I'm bummed.
"We're the ones we've been waiting for"
brilliant.
Sorry I missed the party at Alex's house. Tom B. and I were in a convoy driving around all night looking for the Fred Thompson party. I guess he never got around to organizing it.
see you missed the whole point...
the party at my house WAS the Bring Back Fred Party
Jamie I'm with you on that quote. it was brilliant. It gave me goosebumps. Kudos to Obama-- much better speech than Hillary's.
Even if Obama doesn't win CA (which could still happen) he has won more states and the pledged delegates could turn out to be almost a tie. Bring him back from the dead?
Typical Bretzmann comment... "Bill Richardson is sporting a beard now. Interesting look."
Haha. So people voting for Edwards. Is this more of a protest to the current candidates or did people just not know he dropped out?
lol well I have been told he is not dead, however Looking at him on tv a few of those times I wasn't convinced...
time to pop in a Die Hard 2 Dvd for the closing of the party
So Obamas $32 million was all from supporters and Hillary's $13 million was partly donated by lobbyists?
"Bring him back from the dead?"
I'm not really sure why, but that REALLY made me laugh.
Mr. Bretzmann, have you ever thought about being a stand-up comedian?
If not, please do. I'd pay to see it, but then again luckily as a student it's free and daily. So on second thought, stay a teacher. :]
I second that notion. Plus, word on the street is, you might be getting some better pay...
Thanks for agreeing Shannon :-)
That was one of those quotes that you just know is going to be quoted for a long time. It was a good one.
John: "I wonder if Bretzmann is going to get some sleep."
Alex D.: "Probably not. I kind of want to see him tomorrow."
Shannon D.: "I hope not. I want him to answer my questions."
Jamie W.: "Haha. He's probably relying on a snow day."
I had to ask. The bottom line is, our enthusiasm is just as high as yours Mr. Bretzmann. As you would say, "It's fascinating stuff!"

*anyone but clinton.
I'm almost positive this blog has never been this active so far this year. 60 comments. WOOHOO.
Stand up comedy could work for you Mr. Bretzmann.
Did anyone have popcorn tonight besides me?
No, i had caramel soup with a crepe in it and stale coffee.
The foul taste just won't go away.
Hm that would have been a good idea. I was kind of busy chewing on my fingernails. Kinda gross.
anyone but me want to know if we still get extra credit for multiple blog posts?
That's unfortunate Joanna, I'm sorry.
Clinton won California :-(
How sad.
Hmm. Disappointing.
1. I'll not be a comedian. Too much standing.
2. I'm going to go to bed now because we have not won the weather.com primary. School bright and early tomorrow.
3. I didn't have popcorn. I had chili... and be##.
Good night.
Alex, I'm pretty sure we should get extra credit. I'm guessing we won't though.
http://youdecide08.foxnews.com/missouri/
FOX declared Hillary the winner of Missouri. She was 8% ahead w/ 92% in. Now shes behind by .5%.
Shes still declared the winner when shes behind on the website itself.
Alec Baldwin's Brother is a conservative!!!
He is on leno right now, anyone else not believe that?
If there is school tomorrow--well, lets just say i just drank 24 oz. of coffee two minutes ago and haven't done any homework. Time for me to check weather.com
And what is this I hear about school tomorrow? Are you kidding me? I counted on this!
There is a 100 percent chance it is going to snow heavy tomorrow. I truly believe we will have a snow day, at least I hope so.
hmm weather.com says only 2-4 inches.
I see that 2-4 as well. Can someone tell me what happened to 14+ inches?
TMJ4.com says :7:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.: 2 to 3 inches
12:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.: 3 to 5 inches
7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.: 4 to 6 inches
Total Accumulation: 9-16 inches
Well lets face it, if Bussen doesn't cancel school tomorrow then he's just contradicting himself. There's no way i'm going to school tomorrow off of 4 hours of sleep and no homework done.
Does anyone know what a semi-open primary is?
1)I'm a kid, I want a snow day.
2)The principal practically told people to sleep in.
3)Although it says 2-4, if you look at the details it has many not-so-good things. I really hope they look at safety. Not just about having to make up a school day.
C'monnn.
Thank you all knowing Joanna. :)
You guys know it's not up to Dr. Bussen, right?
Yeah, back when Dr. Rammer used to be my neighbor I debated the same plan. I never followed through though. It involves far too much work for me to be the least bit interested.
lol I was just thinking that would also imply looking in his windows and figuring out which one is his bedroom. And that's real creepy.
I probably would have just done all windows eliminating any need for peeking. I wonder why we can't post on this blog at school. Maybe because we are talking about looking into Dr. Bussen's windows? haha
I guess a ton of tornados are going on. Have you guys seen the storm system passing through the US right now? It looks awful.
Baseball sized hail in Jackson tennesee, 86 injured
It's not up to him? Dang. Oh well. /crosses fingers
On a politics note:
ID 87%
Obama 81%
Clinton 17%
Idaho must really dislike Hillary Clinton. :]
Holy guacamole.. maybe we shouldn't be complaining about school.
Jamie you're a funny kid. You should talk more in class. We'd all enjoy it. :)
baseball sized hail < school
you're right shannon.
For people in Idaho, Clinton and Obama are not 'po-tay-to' 'po-tah-to'
and they know how to spell potato--Mr. Quayle.
We REALLY wouldn't get anything done if I talked more. Sometimes it is just better for me to sit and say something. I think if we DO have school tomorrow, AP Gov would be best spent taking naps. Considering all of us are actively participating in the blog instead of sleeping, nap time would be nice.
Btw Shannon, I've always heard it's inside out AND backwards for a snow day. At least that's how I have my pjs right now.
haha Joanna. Also a funny kid.
UTAH: Romney 89%McCain 6%
Mormon vote anyone?
Hm. I didn't know that pj thing. I'm not too superstitious though. My sweatpants are not going to change the weather. Hypothetically speaking, I think I'd rather talk about this in class than sleep. That is what we're all doing right now after all.
I was just telling John-- This is the essence of ADD Government and Politics.
I don't know Shannon, my pjs are pretty powerful. The last 4 or 5 snow/cold days we've had I've worn them inside out and backwards.
It is kind of like having class.
Except, we aren't all saying...
"This is a little off topic but...."
OR
"I'm not really sure about this but...."
OR
"Sorry that I'm on topic but...."
I could spend a whole night blogging. OH WAIT, that is what I'm doing.
12:00 AM
Super Tuesday is offically over :-(
Ok so for california. Obama gets white men.
Clinton gets white women.
Blacks go for Obama.
Asians go for Clinton.
Deciding factor? Latinos (make up 30% of the state's population).
Polls say clinton got the latino vote 2 to 1.
Clinton--una chica caliente. Ay ay ay.
I'm with Shannon on this one minus the homework.
See you all on Thursday.
Unless of course Dr. Bussen lets us down and school is in session tomorrow. It's been lovely chatting with all of you.
Death toll rises to 16 after tornadoes roar through parts of Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky, authorities say.
Looks like just Joanna and myself?
I'm unfortunately used to staying up this late normally so I'm not in any worse shape that I normally am.
What's more important when you vote for a candidate?
Character 38% 23348
Stand on issues 62% 38465
Total Votes: 61813
I chose issues as well. It's a little tough to choose, but I want a President who believes in what I believe in.

Have a great Snow Day. Spend time with your news channel, your news websites, and your textbook.
Vocab Quiz Friday.
Ah yes. A snow day. What a perfect opportunity for individualized study. ;]
Mr. Bretzmann, what exactly are super delegates? How are they any different than regular ones. I'm curious.
Now--why super delegates are such a huge deal this year:
Since we have no front-runner, and the time frame of the election is so short (preventing any candidate from gaining enough momentum), no candidate may have enough delegates by convention time. Thus, super delegates can change their vote at any time at the convention and the democratic candidate for president may be decided on the convention floor.
Now wouldn't that be exciting?
CNN estimates of delegates:
Clinton 825
Obama 732
I'm surprised Mr.Bretzmann had chili with bear. Bears are public enemy #1. Keep fighting the good fight.
wow. you guys are NUTZ!
Below is what I said on Jan. 19. I don't want to gloat, but I think I have to. Pretty much everything below is happening. I am not as successful in telling the future when it comes to the weather.
1-19-08
Maybe the Obama camp is planning ahead for Feb.5 Here's the thought process: If Clinton wins the two biggest states of CA and NY and wins the most delegates, but Obama wins the most states throughout the Midwest and the West, maybe 15 of the 22 states (according to MSNBC's Chuck Todd), he could claim that as a victory.
Clinton 783
Obama 709
Sigh...She won more delegates, but he won more states. And with that $32 million raised from January... Fingers crossed. This weekend looks like it may be a boost for Obama -- Louisiana, Washington, and Maine all seem to be three more states he can put under his belt this weekend.
And to continue where Joanna left off: Storm death toll now up to 48. Jeez...
Shannon, the SNOW FORT WORKED :-)
No actually I'm just kidding. haha
Actually leta only sixth is having ap gov class. we are the true ap gov students
What a great observation except for Alex. I also noticed last night that we can edit our profile to have pictures and bio info. We could start a new social-networking revolution.
Mr. Bretzmann . . . You are a genius.
That's credit enough.
"I must now stand aside, for our party and our country," Romney told conservatives.' Yahoo News
Holy guacamole.
