At this time, it seems likely that this will happen. Bush has formed a leadership Political Action Committee (PAC), has looked into what is needed for a presidential bid, and has resigned from corporate and nonprofit boards in which he had active roles. This all points toward the likelihood of a presidential bid in 2016 and has convinced many that he is planning to campaign.

Even the possibility alone will affect the race. Bush may intimidate other potential candidates into dropping out by name recognition alone. Because his family is already well known in this arena, others may assume that he will receive funding (and votes) that might otherwise go to them. Though nobody has explicitly stated that they will not run if Bush does, it seems to have had an effect on Ohio Senator Rob Portman's decision not to run and will likely affect several other potential candidates.

However, Bush may not have as much of an advantage as it seems. Many people do not want a third Bush to be president, as they do not agree with the decisions made by the first two Bush presidents and may look at the name rather than the platform. In addition, Bush is less conservative and more moderate than the "tea party" Republicans would like. Those who look at the name only may refuse Bush the vote because of the former presidents and those who look at the platform may refuse him the vote if they feel he is too moderate. Ultimately, the only way to find out what effect Jeb Bush's candidacy will have is to watch and see.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17021254232520030332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27559829.post-33558100816589666032015-02-01T20:10:25.247-06:002015-02-01T20:10:25.247-06:00I agree with the previous post from Koby Pederson....I agree with the previous post from Koby Pederson. Jed Bush, without question, will make an impact with PAC, actively exploring, and being the favorite son of the GOP establishment. It is evident Jed Bush has tools to make an impact but what he will make an impact on is a different story. With his previous role as governor as Florida allows a pivotal advantage to secure a win for the Republican party. With his high status of being a Bush and being the governor of a pivotal state, Jeb Bush already has the upper hand against the other Republican candidates. Another reason a split in the Republican party would be created would be through him being more left wing opposed to the strict right wing candidates. His indifference the immigration laws would lead to him being put down by Republican citizens but also gaining other votes. Bush may be able to unite the Republican party unlike it has been for the past few years in national elections due to his name and seniority. However, if other Republican candidates show strength in polls, the Republican party will be split and therefore weaker than the Democratic party, who will most likely be able to rally behind Hillary Clinton unanimously, leading to a Democratic victory.Daniel M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00005531471043711751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27559829.post-76717688539141928612015-01-19T19:22:33.872-06:002015-01-19T19:22:33.872-06:00The race is on and running, but will the Republica...The race is on and running, but will the Republicans take the White House the in this upcoming election? With strong candidates like Jeb Bush and Mike Huckabee it is probable. However, Jeb bush running in the 2016 election is a controversial topic that is in heated debate. His candidacy has sparked interest and attention on both sides. Having the bush last name and his place as a third-generation candidate obviously plays a large role on both public attention and financial support. For example, he is already backed by the GOP. Also his strong republican stance or has intimidated his competition and lead to many relinquishing any ideas for running this upcoming election. Bush has already formed a PAC and has started to gain supporters, therefore any candidate who does not also start running for the 2016 presidential office will feel less equipped competing against Bush. Another aspect of his presidential campaign is that Jeb Bush and his team cannot take the race for granted. Just because he carries the bush name and has already started to gain support does not mean he can take a stroll through the park. He has to continue reaching out to the voters to get the swing voters and keep the supporters he already has. He is a strong candidate for the party and will fare well running against the Democratic favorite, Hillary Clinton. It is hard to believe that there will most likely be a Bush Clinton election once again. Many other likely candidates, like Marco Rubio, have said that Bush's decision will not affect theirs about running for President in 2016. Among the republicans, Jeb Bush is raising mounds of interest. His relation to the previous Bush presidents strikes a threat in itself. It raises a threat to the more unknown candidates. Jeb Bush is not solely a threat by name, he has an enormous strength in the GOP group that gives him an even bigger advantage. All these strengths may discourage strong opponents such as Rob Portman who appears to not be in the running. However, he does have some disadvantages that may keep him from making it to the White House. In the Republican party, Huckabee stands as a threat to him making it past. Furthermore, his positions on topics like immigration and common core that go against the Republican opinion may hurt him as well. Far beyond the Republican party, Clinton stands as the frontrunner for the Democratic party. Her name may pose a threat to Bush as well especially with her “16 years in the white house without having any control.” Despite this, Jeb Bush still stands as a frontrunner and is very likely to make it to the white house.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01367426367358245934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27559829.post-6800080099097173532015-01-17T11:45:32.941-06:002015-01-17T11:45:32.941-06:00Jeb Bush will most definitely have an impact on th...Jeb Bush will most definitely have an impact on the presidential election because his father and brother were both presidents. Bush's campaign already has multiple levels of previously established support from his father and older brother boosting him to another level of competitiveness that the other candidates cannot compete with. This advantage and the Bush administration's well established name and politics is what is determining the pace of every campaign for 2016. Some, probably all, republican candidates have at least some fear that he is running. Not only is he a big name , but he is also the favorite of the GOP. With his family's past with the presidency it is hard to know for sure if the impact they have on him or good or bad . He will have experienced people to reference (popular or not) and funds will pose less of an obstacle to him than to the other candidates. Some candidates are sure to be a bit more on edge but they shouldn't be ruled out because things can always change with just a statement when it comes to politics. Things will probably get quite chaotic as the GOP gets more nervous about Clinton running and having to deal with their indecision in their party. However, he may not be conservative enough for those Republicans who want to see a strict conservative in office. The problem is that people get way too caught up in the Republican/Democratic aspect instead of making the decision based on who they think will represent them when things like major world leaders stand together. Presidential candidates spend time and money on getting their name out to the public. In this respect, Jeb Bush may have the advantage of being in a family who has already successfully won presidential elections. Though this may not be enough to win, Jeb Bush's presidential campaign is enough to cause a stir and impact America's decision. The American people seem pretty fed up with Democrats right now, so it'll be pretty interesting to see how all of this plays out. -Destiny Johnson, CAAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12815108409870778131noreply@blogger.com
